It's great you care about people, but you need to do right by animals too. Raising Frankenchickens who have suffering coded into their DNA is not okay.

Animal welfare should be a priority and I have not....and will not buy meat from a Co-op store until you think about how the animals suffer so you can make a profit and make great changes.

I won't shop with an organisation profiting from animal cruelty.

The chickens with almost no space, standing in their own feces and awaiting a trip to the sloughterhouse before their bodies end up on the shelves of your store would surely be very confused after seeing this ad..

This is insulting and outrageous. Owned by us? Controlled by us?! 96% of members voted to end the cruel use of Frankenchickens. The organisation ignores us shamelessly. The members do not control the organisation - its bosses do, just like any other for-profit business. The cynicism of this video adds insult to injury - quite literally. The Co-op insults the intelligence of its members while continuing to fund horrendous cruelty to animals.

What a fizz! I'm a 'member' of Co-op but I no longer shop there because the Directors ignored the vote by 96% of voting members to ban Frankenchickens. They are not free to roam because they are genetically programmed to grow so fast that their legs can't support them! So they lie in their own faeces and are burned because bird faeces are extremely acidic. Also, it's pretty hard to roam when your space is the size of an A4 piece of paper. Co-op - your commercials are misleading at the very least. They should not be allowed to be broadcast. Hey folks - here's an idea ..... why don't we all write to Advertising Standards and complain that the adverts are untruthful and misleading to the public. And boycott Co-op. I don't feel as if I'm missing out at all!!!

If The Co-op are genuinely trying to do right by people that's great, but what about animal welfare? Do you care enough about your farmed animals to do right by them too? Because growing numbers of people in this country care enough about where our food comes from that the Co-op really needs to commit to better practices, including full implementation of the Better Chicken Commitment. Can't help but note that there is no mention in this advert about animal welfare in your supply chain, especially thinking of chickens. Is this because you have actually done very little in this regard, so have nothing to trumpet about in this advert? I think yes. It does not go unnoticed.
