Thx for this. Great transcription (chords would be nice over the solo, but i know that's a hassle), a really great version of Time After Time. You can almost touch the emotions coming out of Chet singing and playing this.

I don't get how Emmet always gets hits and even single note lines from the soloists such as at 1:23 . Its just mind blowing and he does it in almost every solo he is comping!
@apeschell3 ай бұрын
Comping involves listening and responding to the soloist. Not really all that uncommon.
@Whatever-ew4ti3 ай бұрын
That's indeed pretty sick. But obviously in this case bar 80 is reinforcing the idea that came in bar 78. If you know the changes you can kinda anticipate bar 80 from bar 78 and the pickup from bar 79, as it is the natural contour of the phrase.

@OrbsM Surely, one of the most moving renditions of this touching song: lyrics by Jule Styne, music by Sammy Cahn. I’m lucky to be, the one who is influenced by Chet’s version and paid homage to him and my wife by singing my own arrangement, based on this aesthetic, for my graduate recitals, PhD NYU, Post-Masters NewEngCnsrvtry. I wish you health and joy and many more rapturous musical moments. hug 🫂 from the road, Dr D
