Amazing Performance!! Back around 1993 when Ravigi moved his family from the UK to Encinitas, CA, I was the Electrician responsible for upgrading the house wiring and hooking up the house-wide speaker system. At the back of the house, Ravigi would take daily walks around the pool. Every time I saw him I felt like i knew him on a deep level. One day while I was hooking up the external patio speakers I finally had the courage to share with Ravigi how I felt about him. He said he felt the same way about me. It seemed like from then on we were the best of friends. He invited me to sit in on his practice sessions with him, Anoushka and a couple of live-in music students. Anoushka was probably 11 or 12 at the time. It is clear to me now that Ravigi was testing me to see if I was receptive to learning Indian music. He wouldn’t just let me sit there and listen. I had to somehow participate, even if it was just learning how to track the complex Indian rhythms. At the time I was engrossed in learning to build and play the Native American flute (Two Towers Flutes) and I didn’t take the bait to learn from the Master. I regret it to this day that I turned down being educated in Indian rhythm and music by perhaps the greatest sitar player the word has ever known. Shortly, after that, I moved from Encinitas to Central California, and then eventually lost touch with the Shankar family. That said I am left with wonderful memories of that time!

Love Andra Day. Beautiful voice. I also loved seeing her greet her co-star Glenn Close at the end.

It was a great concert... & three generations of Thompsons onstage!

I was just contemplating this generational confluence! Quite amazing. Just watching the documentary A Winding Road: a Ramble with Richard Thompson right now.

Hold the camera horizontally.
@tygertrapАй бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I understand that horizontal filming can be better for KZbin viewing, but at live concerts, it can sometimes be inconsiderate to others in the audience. Holding the phone horizontally often means raising it higher or extending my arms, which can block people's views. By keeping the phone directly vertically in front of my face under my eyes, I try to minimize disruption for those around me by keeping the screen brightness obscured and the camera profile hidden. Since the video is cropped to a square, viewers on KZbin should still be able to see as much of Richard Thompson as they would in a horizontal format. I hope this strikes a fair balance between letting others enjoy the concert in the moment and sharing it with the online community. Appreciate your support and fellow Richard Thompson fandom!

@@tygertrap I appreciate your consideration of others! I wanted to see Teddy in the video as well. Thanks for sharing.
@tygertrapАй бұрын
@@Lemonancy I know! I wish that Teddy was visible as well. He's somewhere behind that head on the left singing his heart out. It was special that he was able to come and sing Persuasion with his father as they did on record.

next concert, try not to watch the concert through your camera and wear a small camera to record it so you can enjoy the concert and get a good video
@tygertrap4 ай бұрын
I actually hold my camera under my chin or nose so I always experience the concert for real. Trying to get a perfect video or watching through the phone takes you out of the moment. Generally I just tape one or two songs to help jog the memory later.

Wow, I never knew just how integral the sound engineer is in creating a song! I always wondered what the difference between a sound engineer and a producer was - now I think I know.
