Hi from Canada ,we just finalized our Hiker build and want to travel next spring ,sounds like state parks allow dogs on trails but not in National parks? We have a morkie 😄🐶 Thanks and watching all your videos
@rudystravels14 күн бұрын
That's pretty much the general rule, but check with each park you plan to visit. Usually the national parks have one or more paved nature walks near the visitor center that allow dogs, but that's it. We haven't stayed in a lot of state parks but so far they have all allowed dogs on the trails. You can also look at national forests that seem to be more open to dogs on the trails. Safe travels!

Tony! Your videos are so impressive. What a great way to document this amazing trip. Are you going to do a finale and talk about the planning it took to accomplish this?

Hi I love your channel and so enjoy following you all on your adventures. Love your set up. Can you tell me the brand of your side room? We have a HT EOR 5x9 and need to add a room for space and privacy. Thanks!
@rudystravels3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! We have an ARB screen room that matches with the ARB awning. I strongly recommend that you do the integrated pass through so it is one seamless extension of the inside of the trailer. We did it ourselves and used velcro, and it's ok, but if you really want it done nicely check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIeWl5qBiMZrf9U. I don't know what he charges but if I were starting over I would definitely have him to the room customization for me. Good luck!

@@rudystravels thanks for the quick reply. Sam came out to our house to look at our trailer and since it is an EOR he cannot help us. If we had it to do over we would get a Highway Deluxe XL. We are in our mid 60’s and are new to this small camper world. Bought our Hiker in June and taking our first trip this week. We plan on taking a trip similar to yours next year. Also have a Jack Russell so we can relate to Rudy. Love him! Thanks for sharing your adventures!

This is Mary’s husband Mark - what she meant to ask you is - what is the name and brand of the free standing tent? It looks like it’s a tan and has sides - I saw it in your video and it looks like you can stand up in it

@@MaryDietel It’s from Cabela’s. We use it for showers and we put a potty inside if we’re not really close to the campground facilities. It’s really sturdy and easy to deploy and I highly recommend it. We tried a couple other cheaper ones but they don’t compare. Thanks for posting these rack videos. I have a 5x8 Hiker that I've been thinking about using the t slot to make a platform to put my spare tire on. My plan is to replace the cross bars like you did and then I was going to run some 3" wide pieces front to back. Where did you order your material from, were you able to find the screws and brackets in bulk anywhere at a reasonable price?
@rudystravels9 ай бұрын
I try to get supplies from tnutz.com, their prices seem to be the best. On occasion I order from 8020.net if they have something not available on tnutz, but their prices are much higher. Be careful if your load is too heavy you may get a bit of sag in the middle, but loading closer to the brackets at the ends is no problem.

great walk thru video! i'm looking at the same camper. that is the 9'er correct? i'm looking to outfitt it the same way minus the solar, going with portable panels, i think. so after using the camper for a while what's your pros and cons? anything you'd do differently? any input would be appreciated.
@rudystravels9 ай бұрын
sorry for the delay in replying I'm back to this again. Yes that is the 5x9 that seems to be the sweet spot. I use portable solar panels as well, since the rooftop one is not enough. I added a 200 watt Goal Zero and another 130 watt blanket and with everything I can pull maybe 270 watts which is fine. I love the camper and we spent 10 months traveling the country in it (other stops in AirBnbs but lots of nights in the trailer along the way. I'll be posting more videos from now on.

I have a 2012 2 dr JKR and wondered how it towed the Hiker. Will be getting pretty much the same trailer setup.
@rudystravels9 ай бұрын
I towed the trailer back from Indiana to NY unloaded and it was fine, but now that I am adding more weight I will be using a 2015 4 door JKUR for stability. The longer wheelbase really helps out.

I did that ride back in July from CT, Way back I just drove until I was tired and stayed at a truck stop(food, bathrooms and coffee!) and slept on the xped. Look forward to more of your videos.
