Short term..get fired. Long term? Quit. Firings add up and kill your job prospects. I know of people who were fired from more than one place and they literally cannot find a job. Short term? If you literally never have it happen again, firing is better. Because you can contest any fight for unemployment. Most states are very liberal giving unemployment. If you can show that your firing was for bogus reasons, other people did the same thing and was not fired, or even that you did not know the thing the employer said you did to get fired was wrong (obviously not something obvious like constant lateness or stealing), you get unemployment. Plus, they may offer you some kind of severance to make sure you do not sue or seek benefits. If you quit you get nothing.

Make them fire you. Buys you time and gives you documents for illegal termination. Forward your contacts and atta boy emails to your personal accounts and add to your Linked in account. Document with email, copied to your home account, all meetings and appointments on this line. Unemployment can help with using gas money.

My Company Let me go over a video call, it had record button which I did. The reason for firing me was highly, highly illegal. Took them to court, they flat out lied to the judge, I played the video for the judge ( didnt bother getting a lawyer).. Judge just glared at the 3 Lawyers really angrily. He told them to go to the coference room with me and work something out because they were in deep Sh6t for lying. Well.. I retired at age 48... actually, they are paying me monthly from an escrow account they had to set up that pays me 3% more yearly till age 72.

Getting fired, gets you unemployment and time not to worry about bills... If I wanted to leave a job, I took the job while on vacation for 2 weeks to decide if I liked it better.... My Dad got a call from the owner of a car dealership he was the business manager for and told my Dad to reduce commission on Shop Manager.. My Dad so no, we made an agreement. He told me Dad if he was not going to do it, then he should not come in on Monday... My Dad said, OK.. Filed unemployment, stayed on it until it ran out, then retired.

It is mch better to be fired than to retire. I did the quite quitting thing that wasn't all that quite until they finally had to offer me a package. I received 13 months of salary continuation (including pension contributions and extended medical benefits) that actually took me past my 65th birthday.

I should've quit 5 years into a job with a small business when I reached a tipping point, where the owners thought about firing me, but decided to instead give me the talk. 5 years of the pressure, hard work and toil for literally nothing, drove me postal, and I flipped out, posted something very derogatory on social media about my work situation basically comparing it to slavery, which it kind of was at that time, owners saw it, and i got the talk. At that time I should've just packed up all my things and left, since it just got worse at work for several years, and then got a little better at the end, but still I stayed way too long, not for 5 years I stayed but 19, at a job that really was just a waste of my time. The owners were slave drivers. Before I got let go, I was making 15.50 an hour😂! For 19 years of labor I was still just a BJ to them! I started at 8 dollars, but over 19 years my pay only increased by 7 dollars. Owners retired multi-millionaires, I know because I went and saw their massive Mansion, nice cars, etc . Greed, nothing but greed! But that's America for you! Land of the monied(free), home of the monied(brave).

No one can ever prepare for the inevitable. Best advice I can give? Try to save money for a rainy day, ideally if you can save at least 6 to 12 months of salary, If they fire you out of the blue, at least you go into thrift mode and have enough until you get it together with another job. The fear of losing a job, is not the job, but the income and the problems it brings. I see this employment thing kinda like do eat dog. One day the employer has the upper hand and fires you or the employee finds a better job and quits and leave the company and your co-workers in a bad situation. I hate how a company wants this true company loyalty and they will fire you for any reason or no reason at all.

"Quit or get fired from a job at UPS?" I don't think you guys know the mighty and very legal weight of the question you have been asked. To be honest it sounds like one of you thinks it's not that big a deal and the other just assumes that people who get laid off are criminals. If you guys never met UPS, UPS dresses leaving the company up as a big deal they like to talk about how if you leave the company you can never come back. You guys are just coming off as rather deaf to the question and I guess you don't want to be responsible for giving "financial advice". It's a genuine puzzle, 'fired' might mean laid off without cause, which means you keep some benefits, maybe some severance, and are eligible for unemployment. This is completely different from termination with cause, which is normally due to a crime or some other serious offense. There is a good chance that your question asker is asking if "Laid off" or "Quit" is a better move. I think UPS also has a couple unions too which would really make things interesting. If you quit You can tell future employers that you quit, not that you were downsized, You can clean up your office/workplace (virtual or physical) on your own time, You lose out on the benefits/severance. IDK what happens if the guy is part of a union but I imagine if a union is involved quitting doesn't grant the same benefits as getting laid off. You get laid off (Fired implies with cause to me I imagine the question asker doesn't think there is a real reason to fire them if they are considering quiting.) You get all those gimmies. You will lie if you tell future employers you quit. You will have no time to leave. Presumably your union has your back but again idk. Naturally fired with cause is a completely different question and that question starts looking goofy. The extremes of that fired with cause question get super goofy as one of you kindly brings up. The spreadhsheet involved would include values like the value of company databases, competitor payrolls and years in jail sorts of goofy. I think it's funny you guys bring up the illegal world as that sort of thing is just completely off the reservation and downright undesirable for 99% of people. Mr married with kids has dropped a legal bombshell on you guys, I'm surprised you didn't say "Wow man, not touching that with a 10 foot pole." Without being a lawyer and a spreadsheet you won't optimize a UPS termination and from what I'm seeing this video has neither. If you must comment then at the very least perhaps direct the unfortunate guy making those spreadsheets and contacting those lawyers to some kind of personal experience on how layoffs/quitters are perceived.

I think that Ahmed Armoury only ducked into that construction site because he either had to relieve himself or he saw those men and could perhaps sense their intent and was looking for a way to get out of the neighborhood real quick without any confrontation. He was unarmed and tried to defend himself when threatened with a firearm at point blank range, a natural human reaction when being corralled by three individuals. The film footage of the event tells all in a “push play” example of damning evidence against the accused. There was so much going on in this trial which I think was not really addressed that well like the phone call of the father to the county prosecutor, the hate speech of the son after the fatal shot, and the neighbor shouting “get him! Get him!” Rest in peace Ahmed Armoury, and I can only pray for comfort to his family after enduring this horrific loss of his life.

Biden's Legacy? Biden and his administration are the most corrupt the Country has ever had. What they allowed to happen at our Southern Borders by having 7.2 million Illegals to enter, a true National Security crisis, that alone should have had them brought up on charges of Treason. That is just the tip of the Iceberg as to what Biden and his Deep State have done to destroy our Democracy and our Constitution.

From experience, logical risk taking is almost always your best bet. At one job I saw the writing on the wall and knew the place was doing bad, so I left. And later I find out they closed down. If it's a stable place however, then you want to leave on good terms. It depends on each individual situation. I wasn't smart enough at the time, but ideally a high IQ play is to not show up on the last day. End it on your terms.

What if you are in a contract and your client doesn't really value the changes you want to make? Do you accept it, take the money and keep quiet and just do what you can within the scope? Or if you are the type of person that wants to do a good job, build upon a reputation of meeting all the deliverables and have that satisfaction of saying I did this, but its not going to happen, do you move on?

I find that those who are quiet and calm are the real leaders of a business. In the modern world people confuse this. Many think that a loud mouth is a leader when, in reality, they're using the tool of being overly vocal, or trying to make a joke about everything, as a mask to their fears, flaws, and incompetence. That's not leadership at all. That's honestly the problem within business today. The true lack of leadership therein. A quiet, calm, confident person is usually very observant, discerning, and more humble. Though they may have experience they will ask questions when they deal with a new situation to them and listen to others who do know the answer with less experience. Wisdom.
