Migrated all the company websites to Kinsta. Overall it's a good experience if you're ready to pay more for hosting. I was just lacking a bit of control - some things can only be done via support. And two more things to consider. First - it's NGINX. Some regular plugin settings that use .htaccess won't work here. AIOS security plugin is a good example. You need to convert everything to NGINX format on your own and ask support to add it. And not having direct access to NGINX config file means you can't see what's there. So better to have you own changelog file :) Second - default traffic limit is not that high. For bigger projects you'll have to jump to more expensive plans pretty fast.

Kinsta support is super quick to help out, always know their stuff, and really go the extra mile to fix any issues.

Great overview, man! Kinsta is such a slick platform. I'm skill kicking myself for not setting up all my care plans on a managed host from the start.

Pie Calendar was hosted on a GridPane + Vultr server. SMTP is included on Kinsta, I'm sure there's some kind of soft cap though

@@Permaslug omg yes. Moving to managed is way better. The fee you pay versus time spent tinkering is a fantastic tradeoff. No more days of tinkering in hosting. Good to know Kinsta has SMTP (even is it's just enough for forgot password and thank you emails.

Another good reason to pick Generatepress and its addons is the support, probably 49 times out of 50 if there is an issue it is the user not creating the website "correctly" but occasionally there is something in the code which can be improved / fixed. The support Generatepress offer is the best I have experienced for any product or service I have come across in the last 25-years. That shocked my ISP when I told them that, because there support is pretty good, but GP slightly better.

Another brilliant video Jonathan thank you, which has really helped me get my head around setting up utility classes. I'd love to see a video with more details for the responsive settings you mentioned and the parts you missed on 'look-a-like' heading classes and how you create multiple classes for padding, margin and gap. Better still would be (but really cheeky!) if we could get access to the styles element you created, so we could play around with setting our own utility classes based on your exceptional template.

Many say cloudflare free plan actually slows down your site so it is better to use cloudflare only for domain management.

Tested Airlift yesterday, today I tried to login to my admin dashboard and guess what ... the admin password was changed! Please be aware of this plugin! There is a reason why is not listed in the wordpress plugins (to can add directly from wordpress). Use the plugin with caution! Also it works only on your home page, not on all pages.

This is incredible! One question, how would this work if you are using multiple CDN. For instance you point your website to cloudflare DNS which also enables their CDN, but your hosting provides another CDN as well - which allows you a multi CDN setup. How would these rules work in that case? specifically where you mention "nobody needs access to your wp_content folder"
@troyg2986
@troyg2986 19 күн бұрын
You can use Cloudflare with other CDNs, but I feel it's a waste. I used to pay for a CDN, but now I only use Cloudflare. Even if you disabled all the performance settings with Cloudflare you can still use it as a firewall system to protect your site.

Hi Jonathan. Why are you setting the element block editor width to 75%? Is it just to center it? Do you also cover how to create a mega menu like the one you have on your website in your course?

Hi! Thanks for the great content. Isn´t it better to block /wp-admin/ entirely and only whitelist your IP? Or are the challenge rules enough?

You can as long as you're in the same location. I just had issues in the past where I needed to do something on my cell phone, but I can't because it's a different IP. You can also set up Cloudflare access if you want additional two-step authentication.

I'm wondering how this subscription service can stand against Wix or Squarespace subscription, where it is much cheaper, template pick and chose, and very intuitive. I'd like to witness his answer to a prospect which brings up these options. Maybe you need to pick a niche where people have zero time/interested to try it themselves.
