7:51 the Germans executed a master craft in radio deception convincing the Russians they would attack Moscow instead of Stalingrad…. but ended up feeding a quarter million soldiers into a wood-chipper. Interesting conclusion. 🤔

Vandervoort was 27 at the time of D-Day. Fatherly might be a stretch. More like a big brother. Very brave man. John Wayne was cast to play him in “The Longest Day”. Wayne was 55 in 1962; twice the age of the real Vandervoort.

What impressed the Germans ? How stupid but well fed and equipped the Americans were. Of course , it didn’t matter when they were given their shiny new tanks say like 20 of them and a couple of hours of training. Then their officers way back from the front in comfortable billets ordered them straight forward into a dug-in prepared defence and they were all killed and blown up by noon. Headfirst into Fort Driant ( Metz) and Hurtgen Forest which were never defeated and could have easily been bypassed if officers had a clue besides a map- like went to the front. To the Brits it was like The Somme all over again.

A friend of mine fought in europe. He saw one of the tank crews in his company go through several Shermans in one day. When a tank broke down, the crew just hitched a ride to a depot and got another tank. The ordinance guys would recover the broken tank and fix it for the next crew that needed one.

Ernie Pyle gave WWII a perspective that nobody else did. He wrote about the human cost of war on an intimate level, mentioning a little background and personal information about every man that he came into contact with. "Brave Men," and "Here is Your War," should be required reading in every US history class.

18:19 most people never even begin to fathom all this tumult was engineered by the Freemasons (Albert Pike et al). They attribute it to the vague whims of a corrupt and intangible human condition…. This shit was mapped out by satanic acolytes and executed by those subject to manipulation. I have a modicum of sympathy for the Germans who got swept up in this…. Just a modicum tho.

My dad was on a Landing Craft ship in WWII in the Pacific. He saw the naval bombardments of beaches and imagined that not even a flea could survive, but as soon as they approached, the Japanese would crawl out and begin their defense.

Fun Fact: Germany was about a year away from producing Jet Bombers and Fighters, enough synthetic fuel to supply its needs, and a nuclear bomb alongside the V2 Rocket. Many top ranking people back then said that if Germany would of held for one more year, they would of won the war, as nobody had anything to counter Jets and Nuclear Rockets.

To be so conservative in war creates more casualties not fewer. Patton was controversial and brilliant. He was the only general Germans feared.

It was strategically weak of the Germans to assume the allies would invade the Pas De Calais on the basis that was the narrowest part of the channel considering they didn’t detect the allies until they approached the beaches. Ie. they were always going to attack the beaches which were most accessible/least strongly resourced.

I found the use of the name Gerry very confusing when describing fighting against the Germans, whose nickname was Jerry.
@Rickydiculus11 сағат бұрын
It's a British slang play in how Germans and Jerry share similar sounds, Americans would have used the derogatory slang Krauts.

My Uncle was WB Morgan who served in the 99th division in Italy as B.A.R. man he was built for it he use to say he could pick it up and shoot it one handed. He said made a point not too. But there were a few times he had no choice. he had the werider story i ever heard coming from a vet . Somehow he got transfer to 95th and would see and go thru Dachau with them. I met a another vet who served with him in the 99th. He said when B came back he was changed up til then he told us, if he caught or got wind us shooting prisoners he would kill us himself. He came back and basically if you kill a SS and i didn't see it, it never happened and it wont go up the chain

OMFG! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This has to be the most over-the-top & cartoonishly absurd piece of Anti-American propaganda concerning the US Military's performance iln WW2, that by the time I was 15 minutes into it, I was convinced I was watching a collection of the most asinine lies told by Soviet Leaders (or perhaps even disgruntled Germans?) about our country, our military & its Officers at times when the Cold War began heating up & they felt like bashing their old enemy. How any serious adult could watch that & not notice that the narrator kept repeating this ridiculous narrative about how our "bumbling" Officers kept needlessly commanding operations that were of no military benefit just so they could feed more of their men into the meat grinder while also killing those poor NAZIS! Are you kidding me?! We had the best kill to casualty ratio of any of the main nations who engaged in combat! In fact, the opposite is true. Eisenhower did what almost no Great General would ever do in his situation! He ordered his troops to stop advancing towards Berlin when they were tantalizingly close & most of the allied soldiers naturally wanted to beat the Russians there so they could be the one's to take Hitler's Capital! Why did he do that?! His sole purpose for doing that was to spare the lives of thousands of American GI's! Also, the bit about how supposedly, The British were forced to command US Soldiers was insanely dillusional! The US called the shots- period! This clown didn't even attempt to hide his obvious partisan agenda?!
