I love herbal toppings, but the color changes during the curing process. For example, the lavender buds turn dark brown. Is there any way to keep the color alive?
@jellyroadsoap6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, I'm not free from that issue either. but I'm trying to minimize it through my own ways as followings: Avoid Overheating: During the soap-making process, avoid exposing the herbs to high temperatures including putting the soap over night before your cutting. Rose petal & buds are seriously weak from the heat. Shopping other dry herbs: Some herbs may be not satisfying than others. I've tried many different types of rose buds - different brands so that I could find out a better one for my Rose allure soap. Experiment with different types of herbs and choose those that are less likely to darken. Believe that the herbs preserved in different ways from one and another. Use Lightly: Reduce the amount of herbs used in the soap. Using smaller quantities may result in less color change. These are my experiment(?) outcome that you may know too. Please share with me if you have found other better ways.

Thanks so much for sharing your precious experience. I am totally new to soap making. I thought that putting the topping in the middle of the saponification might be a good idea when the soap is still soft but not that hot. However, I haven't tried it yet to see what the results might be like. @@jellyroadsoap

@@jellyroadsoap I tried it last night haha it cooled too fast and a skin kept developing before I could pour most of the time. If I heated it up every two pours maybe it could work but doesn’t sound very fun. lol

Hy I have a question what is the expiration date of Bastille soap coconut and olive oil soap
@jellyroadsoap7 ай бұрын
As far as I know most of natural soap average expiration is 1-3yrs(depends on ingredients, fragrance & storage condition) However, if it looks and smells fine, and you've stored it properly, it's likely still safe to use even for the body as long as you are not sensitive skin or any other problem skin. Better to test prior to use if you concern your skin type.
