I have two name options for my webtoon, but no one else seems right... 1- Diary of a dead girl (I feel like it's too generic) 2- Dear diary, I'm gonna die (I feel like it's too long

Your channel is so helpful! I am working on my second webtoon and I've always been good with the art, but making a believable story is my weakness. Thanks so much for these tips!

✨I reallyyy loved this video!✨ I still don't really have the abilities to make my own webcomic so while i work on improving my art i can also spend that time flashing out my characters and stories better, and this kind of videos really help, especially yours that i find explained exceptionally well (also genuinely love the art style and the way you talk).❤ As for the villains I really struggles to give them proper motives fir their actions. Especially since the villains are the leading group in society and technically work to help the people but are also very strict about some set of religious rules. It's like a thinly veiled dictatorship where the supreme mind is the god they worship but i don't know how to give a reason to the population of that world to stick to such strict rules and even less reasons as for why the members of such group would stick to them😅 Also for me a convincing personality and story for villans are just so much harder to grasp

Wow I'm so glad I clicked on this! This is a really informative video and all your tips are so helpful, I definitely have a lot to think about when it comes to my main character. Love your art, it's so nice to see the process! In terms of villains, I think my main problem is that I try to show everyone's struggles and kind of justify where they're coming from but in doing so I blur the line and the actions of the villain doesn't have as much impact and/ show that it wasn't okay they did that despite their struggles? Not sure if I'm explaining it well but I would love to hear your thoughts!

5:12 The way I explain my world is interesting I think. So the beginning was of the comic there is no explanation, you follow two of the main characters as they grow closer together. We expience and see the world that they live in through them for a bit (the first like 1/3 or so.) I figured I’d have to start answering questions eventually, so the third main character finally joins the cast, she’s from the past (she died became a zombie watched 2 apocalypses unfold, got cured as a zombie, then attacked by and turned into a vampire. So she’s been around a while.) we learn a bit more about the world through her. But as strange as the world they are in is (as much as I love it) the world isn’t to important outside of societal structures. So I have a very soft world building in a (imma call it fantasy) setting. My other two comics take place at different times in their world as well, and the soft world building applies to both of them to, but the world is actually incredibly important in one of them, we learn about the world completely through the characters who are experiencing it for the first time in a way. They’ve lived in it their whole lives, but it was closed off from the outside. When one of the characters causes the 2nd apocalypse, goes into a coma for 3 years and wakes up, a zombie, in a completely unfamiliar setting to the one he last saw. He and his (found family) brother discover a journal written by an unknown person detailing some of his discoveries (for plot convenience shh) about the world they’ve been kept away from. They discover a lot on their own as the story goes on but they follow the journal as a guide of what is and isn’t safe (it’s not always accurate as they’ll learn but it comes close.) the last comic of mine the world never even gets brought up honestly, all soft world building and revealing necessary information of the opportunity presents itself. I’ve always kinda hated world exposition, it always takes me away from the world I’m genuinely curious about, so I really avoid that in my writing unless it’s necessary. If I can find a dialogue or scene to show it without exposition I do XD

With character writing and mostly design sometimes I get really reluctant to change certain aspects and concepts that don't work as well as I thought they would even if in the end it does more good for the character to change it.

One part about writing/designing characters is making them different, some may look a lot alike or the hairstyles just don't go that well with the personality, sometimes the characters can look really different but then their personalities are alike in a few ways which doesn't make them their own person This video was really helpful and educational, your art is really cool!! :DD

Love the video! I find giving characters, esp main characters negative personality traits difficult. Any tips with that?
@ArtFromAurora7 ай бұрын
Something I keep in mind is that every positive trait can be turned into a negative one. For instance, a positive trait could be that they're compassionate, but on the flip side, that compassion could mean that they can get easily taken advantage of, or that the character comes across as naive/gullible. Positive traits taken to extremes often turn into negative traits. Another thing to keep in mind is that people are very contradictory, so having negative traits that conflict with their positive traits can give the character more dimension. An example of this is a character that is very generous towards others, but hates the idea of receiving gestures of generosity themself. I hope this helped! :D

I can honestly say that the general concept of my webcomic project has been done before, mainly through things like Farscape, Tenchi Muyo or Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. I could easily name a few other genres to cross it with, besides just your typical space opera or science fantasy tropes. It is fascinating to consider their roots in things like westerns or pirate adventures, when you think about it logically.
