This brings back memories. I was really into HiFi in the '70's and my first major purchase after starting work was a Grundig Studio 1620 (stereo). What I really wanted was the quadraphonic version which I think was the Studio 2020 but from memory that was £450 and the1620 was £250, which was a lot of money back then. It took about 18 months to save for it by which time the Studio 1600 had been replaced by the 1620. It turns out this was probably for the best because quadraphonic sound never took off in the '70's. Format wars (like the videotape format wars later on) didn't help. Back then, there were two major formats - Matrix, which was, as far as I can make out, something of a fudge rather like the then common mono-reprocessed-stereo records which were never entirely successful, and Discrete, which was a proper four channel system which was the format used by the Studio 2020. Probably three main reasons why '70's quadraphonic sound failed - a/ the expense b/the competing formats and c/ lack of software. There were only ever a few quadraphonic records released. The BBC did a few experimental broadcasts and then the concept faded from view. It seems to be the fate of Grundig Studios to be jettisoned during house moves and mine was reluctantly placed in the skip during the great relocation of 2001, by which time it had developed a couple of faults.

I've removed some comments due to youtube algorhym AI nonsense. The view count went from 8 to 749 almost overnight, and hasn't had another view in nearly a month. It's still on 749. KZbin ...sad it's gone to the dogs, run by wokestazi shadow banning maniacs who use AI to bully anyone they don't feel has a right to exist as they are ... like me. ie normal.

In the 2hours since I removed the two comments the view count has moved to 752. I don't what the problem is really, maybe being English and living in a land where Rumble is effectively banned by the Emmanual Macron's government? Who knows.

Used to have one of these but in a moment of madness left it in a charity store rather than take it with me in a house move. Worst hi-fi decision I ever made - never did find another system which handled rhythm and percussion in quite the same way.
@Netlife-0014 ай бұрын
oh no ... (we've all got a few disaster hifi moves, but that is up there with the best ... In 2009 I threw away a pair of KEF Chorals just because one tweeter had blown ... in a house move!!!!! (at my helping sisters insistnece, "go on Jim, declutter, you'll also feel better..." My biggest f up though, swapped a 1978 Les Paul Heritage I'd bought from a pub singer in 1984 for a new Fender Tele,.. in a music shop, (and they didn't even give me a tele flight case, was for a strat). Of course the Gibson was in original tan body mould shaped case ... my brother in law swapped a Squire strat for a semour duncan pickup!!! ... we still dine out on this mid 90s madness. I've still got the Studio 2000, and it is a very agreeable lesson. The good news is, if you want one, they are out there, and not that expensive ... unlike the Les Pauls.. Cheers
@numinousbookofreview4 ай бұрын
@@Netlife-001Yes, house moves seem to be a theme. Maybe all the stress of moving contributes to poor decisions. The Les Paul is a real stinger. Sounds like the music shop was being a bit underhand. Given your hi-fi prowess I imagine replacing a tweeter in those KEFs would have been an easy fix, so that's a real shame. I also once dmpted a Goodmans Maxamp and Stereomax tuner - just having been convinced to declutter - madness all round. As to the Studio 2000, I know they're fairly common over in Europe, esp Germany, Italy and places where Grundig was a big name. But here in the north of Ireland they seem not to exist, despite us having a Grundig factory local to me in the 70s. I might have to try rectify my mistake and get one sent over, I just wonder what kind of postage costs would be involved. At the moment 'm using a Grundig RTV 820 with a bass response so powerful it has turned both my speakers into subwoofers. Being a bit of a basshead, especially over McCartney's bass playing, I'm enjoying it immensely.

Funny, I got out of bed this morning and thought, what was I doing 10 years ago ...& how much stuff did I have then? I sold the Sony deck, sold the Akai deck, still have the Sony laptop and the KEF 104/2, but I've accumulated literally a good sized shed load of other gear from when I began to collect big time in 2014. You can't take with you when you go (well you can, but you either need a removal company or a very large van, but I now live in a house that needs doing up and instead of being done up it's full of hifi. Thanks for the comment!

Am I expected to believe Tobias Ellwood? He is highly shadowy with his involvement in 77 Brigade and the events of March 22nd 2017. I can't take him seriously when he says that he has spent his fortune on this contrived conflict.

I know, surprised me as well. I may give to his Go Fund Me effort though, .. no one likes to see ex defence secretaries having to use soup kitchens. It's just not right. I'll donate a few billion (I had a recent in-line-with-inflation pay rise), even tho he'll continue to piss it up the wall this side of the Urals. That's an alcoholic though .. you can show him the bar and say, 'go on have a Guiness, treat yourself', but he'll always break a bottle over your head, run off with all the stock, drink it, then set fire to a closed off-licence, and then blame the President of Russia.

Nice video you made! I changed all 3 belts, but something is preventing the deck to play. I need to move the triangle cover by the forward and backward lamps under the aluminum front panel to make it spin. In general, this deck has cheap plastic gears, but when it works it sounds surprisingly good. I ran out of ideas how to make it play in either forward or in reverse position. If I had a manual showing the mechanism gears I would have been more successful. Anything you may suggest is more than welcome..... Thanks again! Greets George

@maxine3353 Proctor & Gamble’s historian couldn’t find any evidence to collaborate Meghan Markle’s interpretation of this story so Vanity Fair omitted it from their Oct2017 Wild About Harry issue just before it went to print. Yet Meghan Markle continues to tell this twisted story to all those who will listen. Some say it’s because this is how her father Thomas Markle Sr portrayed this story to build his daughters self-esteem. In other words he embellished the story. But never in his wildest dreams did he ever expect anyone to fact-check his “story” so you might say it backfired on him. IMHO I don’t think Markle needed her self-esteem needed any more boosting if you go back to her early childhood home movies where she has already learned the manipulation tactic of flirting with her eyes and eyelashes. Anyway only a few know the real story, people like Thomas Markle Sr & Jr, Samantha Markle, Meghan Markle’s teachers, possibly her mother and a few others. Maybe even Hillary Clinton! But this girl has told so many lies through the years, it’s foolish to trust her.
