Using the Big 6 for summing is completely pointless as it is completely crystal clear with no discernible qualities at all. Everyone thinks it's going to sound like a G series desk. It doesnt. It's a desktop mix pad -= albeit the best one you can get. Don't get me wrong - its an awesome and versatile tool - but there's literally no benefit to using this for that job - you would be better off buying two High end 500 series channels to your taste and rebouncing your groups back into the DAW set by set. Also - there's only inserts on 1-4 which presumably is going be an issue off you're bringing it out into electricity and want yo use some signature pieces. Considering that the Big 6 is about £1900, personally I would rather spend that money on 2 really nice channels that had their own quality and which I could further go out into nice outboard before bouncing back into the DAW and then simply have evrything play back at -7dB. I use the Big 6 a lot and its very flexible as a kind of multi tool - audio hub for when you're doing sketch work, multi media work. But I would never mix on it - the Eq is not a g series EQ - it's fixed frequency for starters - you would be better off staying in the DAW and spending the money on treating your room so that you knew what you were hearing.

Thank you for this review, I just ordered the Beyerdynamic headphones! Edit: Never mind. A good reviewer would AT-LEAST show what connection type you'll need due to the cable not being able to plug into a PC!! 2nd Edit: Sorry, I take back what I said. Thank you for your review. It turns out, I didn't know that the extra adapter was screwed on to the normal adapter you'd use to plug into a computer. I really like these headphones and I have no regrets!

Maybe I need more practice listening but I felt like the O1v was better than the Big Six. The Big six had more headroom but leaned more heavily into the higher frequencies. Not in a good way imo.

Buy the standard DT770 80 ohm if you want a good sound. The M-version is for extreme noise isolation like drums. They sound very different, believe me.

The Type 20’s do not need burn in time. They are already burned in at the factory. This was told to me by the CEO of HEDD. The Type 20’s go to 30hz max. A good sub is required to have a full range system with these monitors. These need a very well treated room to shine They are not great in a semi-untreated room
@Drumbaseuk
@Drumbaseuk Жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't know if the early ones that I got, were burnt in, but yeah he said they are burnt in now in the factory. I have mine connected to a sub and my room is heavily treated. The speakers sound awesome just lacking a little punch. Being a 3 way they certanily let you know when your mix isn't right, as it just sounds off, really good to mix on, I can trust them completly. I take it you have some?

@@Limit5482 I'm supprised they don't get more recognition. It's hard to find a monitor that sound fantastic and yet so acurate. I don't need to mess around with trying mixes everywhere, I just mix and if it's good on the 20's its good everywhere. I have mine with the port closed and as I said run a sub so the bass drivers aren't overworking and I can turn the sub off to hear better when mixing. Have you a youtube? Be good to see your setup.

Thanks for this! How can I have a separate DAW mix from the artist? Since my DAW comes out from 15/16, every time the artist wants more or less DAW return I need to turn down the main 15/16 gain knob, which obviously also affects my mix and the control room. Thanks!

I mean specifically the return from the DAW. Let's say the artist wants more DAW return, I have to turn up the gain knob from 15/16, which in turn also raises volume in the control room. Can I have a headphone mix in Big Six where I can independently send the artist more or less DAW monitor? @@Drumbaseuk

Why does nobody mention dual sub setup for an active setup. ive heard many people in the hifi world swear by using 2 subs underneath their loudspeakers to preserve the stereo image and what not . Have you tried this method ?
@Drumbaseuk
@Drumbaseuk Жыл бұрын
Hi, I wanted Hedd to send my 2 of their subs but they made excuses and never came through. I asked Adam Audio and they wouldn't as well and shops could only send 1. I know you can have phase issues with 2 but I think it would be great to experiment. Bass sounds good in mono but yeah stereo would be a curiosity.

I think Live Analog Recording and Voice Over have more to gain from the Big Six....I have the SoundCraft LX7II Which is a little more Saturated and Gluey sounding like Tape....which works better for me because most of my music is in the DAW so I use a UAD Volt...alwasy on Vintage Mode and WA G Comp with it.....Ive got to have more Saturation and Ananalog Harmonic Distortion looping through my gear because 70% of it is Digital

Hi I now try and keep mine at 0 then I have room to go up and down. I try using the gain to get it right when at 0 but some times I need to push it some more. If it sounds okay that is cool, it just may add distortion maybe. Thanks

This video is great for Cubase users and using external reverb into the DAW. (I use Logic) But I have another request that involves external effects, might not necessarily involve DAW, but could. How can I connect external reverb so I can use it through CUE 1 or 2 on each channel for recording or summing? The only video out there shows audio coming out from ST Cue1 at back of the board to reverb input, then reverb out to external 1 inputs (13/14?) at top of B6 - no buttons pushed, but I get feedback that way. So this can't be correct. What am I missing? Are there alternatives for hearing through mains or headphones or recording or summing to and from the DAW the right way? Thank you

Okay, for anyone who has run into the same misunderstanding, here we go with send and return of effects using an outboard reverb unit as a for instance: It's pretty basic and we're not even involving DAW. Let me know if I'm missing anything. Out R&L from ST Cue (back panel of Big Six) into any R&L outboard stereo reverb unit. Then out from R&L reverb unit into EXT. Inputs on the very top right panel of Big Six. Then turn up the pot level for Cue 1 in the "Monitor Source" section on the Monitor panel. (top right on Big Six), and push the EXT 1 button (13/14) on the Main panel section. That's it. Now you can go to any channel strip, turn on ST Cue 1, and use the db levelling pot to vary the amount of reverb you need for any channel.

Hi, thanks for the kind coment. The way I did it, I now use a DJI wirless mic, which is easier as the mic comes with me, as I kept shouting with the big six even though I didn’t have to. lol. The main thing is, is that you select the inputs and outputs correclty also that the mic you are using is going straight out the main bus not back through the usb. The switch, usb out fader may be the reason. To be honest it could be many things as the desk is so versatile. Sorry I couldn't pin it down exaclty.
