Very insightful assessment. Especially impressed by the discovery of needing to use lower inch-pounds when mounting it, and the watchout how zero eye relief reduces shooter's ability to see things in immediate surroundings. Also the idea of using this with a scope cam is excellent. I agree with the narrow depth of field/focus but that is good for my application where i need to range distance with the focus knob.

I am Australian and I visited N.Z. to hunt the high country. I experienced far more rigmarole leaving and returning to Australia - than entering NZ. I had to get AFP permits to import my own firearm back home as well as written permission from the carrier so I could place it into special custody. When I arrived in NZ the licensing Cop at the airport wanted to come with me, he was awesome ) and leaving NZ with Bone & Hide was no trouble either. Easy inspection and certification at the airport. But Entering Australia I had to deal the Australian AQIS muppet, he was about 27 years old pimply faced and had zero idea of firearms or hunting - demanded to know why I left AUS with 20 rounds and returned with only 17 ?? Where were the other three “bullets” he asked??? I said , one sighting shot and two Bull Tahr trophies / the spent cases were on the hill somewhere and couldn’t be retrieved!!! But where were the bullets he demanded! OMG 😨 In my experience the attitude to firearms and hunting in Australia is perfectly backward compared to NZ.
@tonygillahan15 сағат бұрын
Sorry to hear you had so many issues! NZ is definitely a lot more welcoming than Aus when it comes to hunting and firearms, Holly and I definitely got lucky with our exit and return to Aus. Everyone was excellent in both countries. The other issue is the constant changing of regulations, it's changed again since this video and you now need a MPI export certificate to bring home capes/hides. We had no rifle or bone/hide inspection when leaving NZ airport, was only when entering back to Aus and they were all excellent too. But I've heard some horror stories for sure!

Fyi border force is open 24/7 at melbourne airport! There is a number you can call for someone to come and check over firearm and paperwork as we have a 6am flight ✈️ so book the earlier cheaper flights with jetstar 😂

THIS WAS OUR EXPERIENCE AND IMPORT/EXPORT REGULATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. SO PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. AS OF POSTING THIS VIDEO, YOU NOW NEED A MPI EXPORT CERTIFICATE TO BRING HIDES/TROPHIES BACK TO AUSTRALIA. THE LINK IS IN THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION. ALL THE BEST AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS 🍻

Pretty typical for self guided blocks in NZ, good ones don't make it past 5 years old and get passed up by some hunters looking for an old one then they get shot by the next group of hunters in there.
@tonygillahan5 күн бұрын
Yeah that's it mate, but hopefully with more education and understanding people start leaving those younger ones alone and letting them get a bit of age 🤞 can only hope anyway haha
