Without a doubt one of the best things I've done in many, many years is join this amazing body of men at the start of this year. I'd never sung in my life before but have been welcomed into what someone rightly described on this video as a big musical family.

14 years! When we first came up with the idea for this DVD presentation (with concert footage, too) it was a great advert for the choir. Perhaps it's even more important now. Wonderful to see these faces from the past talk with such warmth about their experiences. My personal highlights were probably Copenhagen (with James Recknell) and Avignon with (Mark Jefferson)...oh and our epic regional win in the Sainsbury's Choir of the Year!

I coordinated this project 14 years ago..... I can't believe where the time has gone. This is an amazing snapshot of the history of a great choir! Looking around the faces here, there are so many no longer with us. They may have passed on, but thanks to things like this, they'll never be forgotten. What a fabulous band of brothers! There's a big lump in my throat & tears in my eyes, streaming down my face. The passion this choir has for singing brings this song of hope & survival, through endeavour & ambition to all who hear it!

I always wished that I could sing like that . I live alone and try to sing however no one has ever heard me sing. Now it's to late, I'm 71 and my time is almost over on this earth. I pray that the angels will give me a chance to sing !😊

You ought to sing with someone while face timing with them. I'm 67 and when I was young I had a big voice like an adult. Things change and I didn't sing either although I love to sing. You need to do it.

Many barbershop choruses throughout the US have older members in the choir. I was recruited by a retired teacher in his 70s to join. I think no one is old enough to sing if you love it. "Keep the whole world singing." is our famous Barbershop tagline.

I'm 92 and I have only retired from. Singing in my choir because it's difficult to get around without a walker. But singing in a choir is very sustaining. Just toblend your voice with others. And when people hear me talking they don't believe I'm 92. They think I'm 20 years younger. I think it's the sustained singing that has kept my voice so strong. Go for it and join a church choir if you can.

There are some truly interesting comments made by all the persons concerning this choir of which I am proud to be a member . Brian sums up my feelings and overwhelming belief in music and where it sits in our culture. It is a means of expressing the feelings that are not dependant on words. The emotion of singing which is such a link between us all. It is not the being seen but the being heard which is unique to the experience. Summed up for in my experience at Kevelaar I beleave where we produced a stunning sound in a vast space but could not be seen..

Thanks Mark, it its with my model of recording . I was not aware that you need videos in landscape rather than in portrait format. You are right about listening or watching .or listening to oneself performing. I experienced that for real when I was studying for my Cert. Ed. through Canterbury University. The Dr. of Education that. came o assess my performance required me to record a three hour session of teaching period i was doing. I could only watch it for approximately 3 minutes! I had to stop watching for self preservation. Too much to reflect upon and far too embarrassing.

Just a quickie, guys.... How are we supposed to know when these are being published? Think there was a notice about the first one maybe.... personally have only 'accidentally' found the latest two. If Mark's taking the trouble to make these, can't they be more widely publicised? I certainly haven't received any notices. Steve Cook

My approach is to listen to David S's dulcet tones the training track using headphones whilst reading the score and singing along, many times. Works for me!
