I have both the OM603 & OM606 engines. 1987, & 1995, respectively. Lots of miles on both!! Love these cars! Long distance, heavy cruisers! My 1995 is my daily driver. Cheap transportation!!! Long live the W124 Mercedes Benz! Not racecars off the line, but love the feel. Solid street tanks!! Nothing but yeah!!

Little guy laid his life down for you. You walked away, most important thing. Sad day, but he had a long, happy life. Most cars wouldn't sniff that kind of longevity. Last of the true, pre Chrysler Mercs.

April 1988, I purchased a new 1987 190D. I kept it 5 years to the day. 60,000 miles. I loved everything EXCEPT the a/c died 4 times in the 5 years and the mb mechanic told me there was a flaw in the system. I asked him how much it was going to cost me once the warranty was out and in 1993 dollars he told me the parts were $2500 plus labor. The day the warranty was out I drove to the Nissan dealer and traded.

I would better look at how a individual car has been kept and serviced rather than year model. When running well for 30 years, there likely be quite a few years of running time left no mater pre face or facelift. that said, generally the models were constantly developed through the years and that last year of a series might be the 'top of the line'.

Beautiful W201, I wonder if you ever fixed your squeak? That is a characteristic "lower ball joint" squeak which happens when they become dry due to damaged rubber and age, the ball joint is starting to seize and eventually it will let go with catastrophic consequences!! My old W124 had the same noise and when fitting new lower control arms the car was so much better on the road, easier to keep in a straight line too!

Nice car ! I have essentially the same car. A 95 E300 Diesel with special order blue MB Tex interior. Original owner with 190 K. Runs like a fine Swiss watch. The OM606 engine is remarkable and you should read up on it. Anyway, thanks for the video. Never sell that car !! Have fun.

Never sell this car! I bought one and bought another one because theyre so good. 300D are imo the best performing. Turbodiesels have a bit more issues, but a 300D gives you the comfort of a 300TD without the pull up power. Great video!

@@mbz4652 as far as i know, the engines used in those models are the same. The turbo engines are (slightly!!) Less reliable, just because it has a turbo charger and those things break usually. The non turbo charged automatic transmission cars are known to be the best sedans ever known to mankind.

@@electronicjihad Thanks for the answer. The 300d and 300d facelift engine visually don't look the same and don't have the same power, so in my opinion, these are not exactly the same engines but what the difference in reliability is, I don't actually know

@@mbz4652 oh then i must be wrong. I own a 250d and a 300d turbo, the 250d is preface, the 300d is facelift. The engines are ofcourse different, but the cilinderhead and alot of the engines look similar. But theres ofcourse some differences. I would recommend the 300D non turbo automatic transmission. Not as powerful but more economic and same comfort because of the 6 cilinders
