Discovered them only a couple of years ago - what a fine band with great songs and excellent musicianship. Love the whole album!

I LOVED this song as a teenager back in the 1970s -- and I STILL love it today!😃

I simply cannot fathom how a song can be so eerie, yet beautiful at the same time. The Left Banke were seriously the most exquisite band the 60s brought and the fact they weren't "mainstream" popular adds to their uniqueness. So ahead of their time and I discovered these guys watching a Todd Rundgren promotional movie for one of his albums from the mid 80s.

I think everyone misunderstands the meaning of this song. It came to me as I walked the shore of the Montague River, PEI, one year when we had an abundance of starfish. Many were laying on the shore and they were all dead. That is when it hit me, this is a suicide note. The Beach Boys version makes this clear. The writer writes three suicide notes to the people closest to him, about how it is "hard to die." But how does he know he is going to die, because he has planned his death after he found out his wife was sleeping with his best friend. It is pointed especially at his friend, when you are out having fun with the pretty girls in the spring I will be haunting you. Very moribund I realize but the only thing that makes sense of the song. This is my favorite version of the song though I always loved Terry Jacks version as well.

First time hearing this- it's an amazing song. Sadly Gary who'd long been with Shooting Star who redid this according to what I read died in 2020. If this is true it means he's up with Mike, Steve, Finn, Feher, and George Cameron in heaven. Long ago I knew Scott Trusty by phone. He still would see Mike back then from time to time.

How wasn't this album put out at the time!? I own it and all things Banke and related. You can hear the ghost of M. Brown in a heavier, soaring, power pop nugget. Sadly, "Yesterday's Love" serves as everyone but Rick Brand's epitaph. So much talent so little success, but forever music lives on. RIP Mike, Tom, Steve. George, and Tom Feher.

Never knew Sedaka wrote this. Turns out he wrote every song in existence. But Davy's version is better. In fact, with few exceptions, the covers of Sedaka's songs are better than his own versions.
