Now you're talking! Impressive. Hotline Miami is THE synthwave leading forces for it's popularization, and that the Miami2 got even better tunes. That said, I do feel you🤣, dem got DAWs with all the effects, sidechains they like. Try recreating them....... like where do you start/how to get it done. Not to say it takes sooo long to do. Do you plan making Miami2 songs sometime later?
@FickleFilms2 ай бұрын
Maybe? I have listened to some of them, particularly Jasper Byrne's Decade Dance and Night Driver, as well as Acid Spit by Mega Drive. I expect ambient parts would be challenging to design instruments for, but that kind of practice would make some other songs on my list much more manageable so it's probably worth the time investment. The best I can guarantee is that work on a Miami 2 song wouldn't begin until I finish two songs that are currently in progress, at the earliest. But if you want some Miami 2 now go check out Galcha's work! They've done Roller Mobster and Le Perv already, and both sound great.

I think it's funny how this level (and, honestly, to me the slums as a whole) feels like a homage to the SNES and Genesis, but moreso the genesis in terms of theming and sound (although Tubular Trash Zone is the only one that I'd say has a lot of genesis feel, everything else feels either like it could be either console or just the snes) but honestly, with the title card and the pipes it def feels a bit mario-ish, but with the graphics and Middleage Non-mutant Ninja Pizzas, a lot closer to the genesis. Not sure how to properly put this into words.

Shame this video doesn’t have that many views this is amazing! Hey i have a question though im making a game and i was wondering if you have any song creating tips cause specifically genesis music
@FickleFilms Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you liked the video! I am just a hobbyist so I am not too experienced with composition and don't have a ton of tips to offer, but one simple thing I would recommend is to listen to as much related content as you can. Listen to the same song covered by different people and try to pick out differences in their styles, listen to Genesis music for rpg/puzzle/action genres. There's also some great modern artists who use FM, like Landon Podbielski's Duck Game OST, Rainbowdragoneyes' The Messenger OST, and Jake Kaufman's Shovel Knight Dig OST (abides by restrictions of the YM2608 if I'm not mistaken). If you hear something you like, make a note of it (even if you don't know proper musical terms to describe it). I also make playlists of music for screens that most games have (title, menu, pause, etc.) to try and relate games' mood and theme to their music. With enough listening you can start to build an intuition for what is suitable for different parts of your game. I have been considering gathering my last 2 years of experience with tracker software into a guide of sorts. If that sounds like it would be helpful to your gamemaking process and you have any specific questions let me know and I'll try to include answers to them!

Base model would never in life would be able to handle it. Sega Cd tho...
@solarflare9078 Жыл бұрын
@schizoposting9593 It doesn’t have to be a 1:1 port. There can be some animation cuts here and there; no way the game can handle ALL the animation in a 32 Mbit cart. As for performance, I can imagine some slowdown in areas, but the AI for enemies is pretty simple for the most part, and the sprites aren’t usually huge, so it’s nothing it couldn’t handle without dropping to 1/3 speed/20 FPS. As for the Mega CD, all it does it give it CD audio/PCM capabilities and a slightly better CPU with zooming capabilities.
