Under the right circumstances a congressman can help guide people to have their discharge paperwork upgraded . It may take a lawyer that works with veterans to get a service upgrade. There is now and has been in the past policy and leadership that acted without looking at the end results of what happens to veterans . When someone needs to be sent to treatment before leaving the military often it’s easier for leadership to pencil push veterans out of service and let society pickup the pieces.

Thats definitely Patrick Conway. That's a shame. I first met Patrick Conway at "Starting Point of Orange County" 350 West Bay St. Costa Mesa CA (now defunct) rehab facility Newport Beach in early 1990. As both of us joked throughout group, I noticed there was something familiar about his straight-faced quit witted remarks that I couldn't quite place. Although I never asked, after we got acquainted he talked a bit about going to the watch rehearsals Carol Burnet show, the long 16 hour days cast members worked. He said it was cool when home with friends, siblings and being able order liquor store deliveries. His dad major horse racing fan taught them numbers and odds at various tracks. Anyway, he is genuinely nice, funny, played piano, the guitar had back problems due to dirt biking accident in Big Bear, and didn't know where he'd last seen his Toyota 4x4. There seemed to be some contention music he helped compose some of the music for" Dorf on Golf" ( "it's a gift and a curse" is my reply when I'm reminded of my incredible memory) There were pay phones in the dorms and his dad called quite a lot. In addition to staff psychiatrist, Patrick personal psychiatrist visited couple times a week. For various reasons I paid cash and I remember in one of my last group sessions a case manager Susan M saying to me, " your too rich to become sober. For godsake you have OUR psychiatrist giving you Xanax..what the hell are you doing here!" " Hiding" was my reply. Sometimes you have to retreat to a quiet place where no one can bother you. I feel bad for Patrick. I've been sober for over 25 years now. I'm no longer rich but I'm richly blessed, retired with everything I need. There were countless times it could've gone the other way.
