Listening to and seeing you young girls with your message of open hearts and service to your community was an emotional moment for me. I was a girl scout and remember being taught how to help others. Always doing my best is still something that I strive to do to this day. This can remain a life focus as we'll always need more caring people. Good work!

Some of my most fond memories are from when I was a scout. Our troop had fantastic leaders who gave us many different experiences from camping, horseback riding, and sailing to us girls putting on fashion shows and dinners. Volunteering in the community was also our way of learning to give back. It also taught us the value of caring women friends who can remain with us during our lifetime. Thank you Girl Scouts!

Part of the change to the Girl Scouts from Girl Guides was a result of the founder of the Boy Scouts having to back her up when she had to defend her place as the true founder of the Girl Scouting mission against other organizations who tried to say that they were the first. Seems the Campfire Girls were invited to combine with the Girl Scouts but they declined. It's a fascinating read, the biography of her that I am currently reading.

I am currently reading a biography on Juliette Low. I really felt for her when she became deaf and then her husband Willie mocked her among their friends. And sad, too, was when the founder of the Boy Scouts fell for a much younger woman on the ship they were on at the same time, and not Juliette (Daisy). It is no wonder she set about developing a way to empower women and not leave them feeling like their existence had to center solely on a man, and marriage. My parents had a powerfully-connected 60-year marriage with mutual respect, but not every woman gets to experience that. It's great to learn to be dependent on one's own self, but also capable of serving those in the community. She left that legacy. How wonderful such a legacy has been to girls - and now women like me - everywhere.

I love this. Fake news is a problem, but this solution is perfect: more real news. Fight lies with truth. Freedom of speech for the win!

Girl Scouts Cookies Rock!
@heidigail97398 жыл бұрын
My son and I are helping his daughter sell cookies this year. She is a first year Brownie. She is walking her feet off! She has gone out for at least 4 hours with only 21 boxes sold. This has not diminished her cookie selling spirit! She asks her dad to take her out again and again. I help with the email portion of her sale. She sold 750 boxes last year with her mom's help. I have no idea what her mom did to help her, but we are making her do the work. She is proud of herself and so are we. I am her leader, so I will get as many cookie booths as our troop will man. I will sign her up for her fair share. i hope that she meets her goal, but I am more interested in helping her learn how to run her business.

I was watching this video at my Council this past Sunday along with the other young ladies projects. The ones that are physical in nature should be added to www.waymarking.com there is a category for Girl Scout Girl Award sites that can be visited with GPS coordinates.
