I absolutely love the animation, though as someone with a passing knowledge on current research into the nature and emergence of intelligence, I strongly disagree with some parts of the audio. The biggest disagreement i have is with the assertion that intelligent (and sapient) life would necessarily evolve from predators. Specifically the highly reductive dismissal of prey animals as just having to "run away." The thing is that to do that they need most of the same kinds of skills that the predators need. They need to be able to percieve their environment to identify food and predators, they need to be able to hide or camouflage themselves from predators, they need to be able to see through the various hunting trick of their predators. They then need to be able to outrun, outfight or outsmart their predators. Though in truth the predator prey dynamic is probably less useful for discussing intelligence than looking at diet and an animal's place in the ecosystem. Generally obligate herbivores (those who only eat plants) tend to rely on physical adaptations such as size, speed, or camouflage more than intelligence, this is not because their ability to evade predators would not be improved by having a greater intelligence, but rather that the energy costs (both in growing that more complex brain and nervous system and in keeping them running) probably outwheigh the benefit of increased intelligence on their survival. These animals generally already put significant amounts of energy into refining mostly indigestible plant proteins into useable forms so there is little left to support a complex nervous system. Obligate carnivores (animals that can only eat meat) also face a similar problem, though less extreme. The problem for an obligate carnivore is less about the ease if digestion of their food and more about the energy that is taken to get the food in the first place being generally rather high and the fact that the availability of that food is severely limited compared to the availability of plants. This generally means that obligate carnivores will have some level of intelligence but it will likely be somewhat limited and more reliance would be placed on speed, camouflage or brawn as well. There is however a significant portion of animals that fall into the category of omnivores. These animals are generally able to eat the more available plant products (think fruit, seeds, roots and simple greens) as well as other animals. This gives them a greater degree of access to food and therefore the energy required to sustain a complex nervous system. We are omnivores and most of the other intelligent species that have become focuses of study (parrots, crows, pigeons, apes, chimpanzees, wolves, or octopuses, to name a few) are omnivores as well. If you want to bring back the predator prey dynamic, then this still favors omnivores very heavily as they have the resources to invest in intelligence, the pressure for some measure of intelligence for hunting other animals, and (often, but not always) the pressure for some measure of intelligence in evading predators of their own.

The Enterprise is the first ship in like 2000 years that has gotten stuck in the trap, simply sending a message to starfleet command and putting up some warning devices, giving a detailed report on the issue and how the trap works. Pretty sure Starfleet could have sent in some salvage ships with chemical thrusters which would not trigger the trap to connect a grapple cable like on the old NX Enterprise and pull the ship out or any other number of ways of getting the cruiser instead of blowing it up.
