Honestly how is it sleeping back there at night in freezing temps? I know you got the heater and stuff but are you really comfortable back there when sleeping?
@highlife3424 күн бұрын
@@mercenary991 Good question. Yes, it's very comfortable. I use an xped mattress that rivals any home sleeping mattress, and the heater will keep the inside around 60 degrees even if its in the single digit temps outside. I usually just use a light blanket to cover up and i'm fine. I like to open the back door and watch the snow fall, and even then it stays warm enough inside.

I use a tarp an PVC pipe just like that. Saved me 1000 dollars ❤❤❤❤❤

So cool to find your video! What a trip! That Tacoma setup for sleeping is quality! How do you rate Tuweep vs Point Sublime? Have been to the latter but not the former. Really want to see Tuweep some day. 9:50 - in that exact direction - watched two sunsets there with my son over a couple of days in early June, 2021. To this day - in a lifetime of being outdoors - the views combined with the solitude make PS probably the most spectacular place I have ever been. We drove out from Nashville in a GX470 - had our TRD wheels and T/A KO2s. however, so we got out there with no problems along the Point Sublime Trail from Widforrs in the NP. We were lucky enough to get permits for one of those two tent campsites at Sublime. Got there early in the day and chose left side, looking down into the canyon directly from the tent. 11:16 - You are at the Crystal Canyon viewpoint, in the national park rather than the national forest. Did you interact with any park rangers? I am a LNT camper and hold myself to a high enough standard that I would feel comfortable camping there, but I worry about a negative ranger interaction in a place where there isn't permit camping. To be fair, a few months before we went, some clowns on camping dirtbikes posted on Instagram their trip to Sublime while camping right off the road between Crystal Canyon and PS - they also created their own fire ring and made a rip-roaring fire during a total fire ban. I am now officially a new subscriber. The GX is gone, and I have an '04 TLC where I can sleep in the back. Need to refine my skills, and you have the guidance needed. Thank you.

Tuweep is very desert and dry compared to the rest of the places that were pine tree and alpine feel. Also, Tuweep is heavily gaurded by ranger, so permits, reservations, etc. The whole reason why we overland is to get away from that. With that being said, the views are worth a stop, and the road is mostly fire road and smooth to Tuweep.

Tuweep point is an out and back, then you have to return to hwy 89 and work east. FR22 / ryan off of highway 89a starts the trail to head south to canyon.

Yes, I think its fine. Its rare that water conditions allow full throttle crossing anyhow, so no need for all that horsepower. Its more comfortable to go slower and less noise.

What HP motor do you have on your Bayliner? If you had to buy again would you? Seems to be a great boat for the value
@highlife3428 ай бұрын
Its a 90 HP mercury. I would buy again as the value is perfect for the trips I do. A big thing with any boat is the routine maintenance that must be done for prolonged safe operations, which most people ignore or don't spend the time doing.

As a recent owner of a new 2023 Tacoma SR5 with 6' bed, I've vasilated between purchasing another truck tent like I had on my 8' bed 2008 Tundra or getting a Softopper...even considered keeping the well designed lockable tonneau folded back with the truck tent. Whereas my former tent was a Napier with sewn in floor, I rather like the ability to keep the bed organized as I like and simply set up the tent over it. I noticed that Rightline bed tents also come without the floor, but with nearly $400 in Cabela Bucks, I'm inclined to purchase the Kodiak canvas tent. I also love the idea of total flexibility since I plan on hauling a small Honda trail bike or scooter in the bed when traveling and a hard topper would prevent that. Thanks fof the inspiration to move forward with my decision to have both a tent and foldable cap. I'll keep the tonneau for times I need more security locally in the truck bed.
