It's good in many ways, but Super Night Mode (SNM) is not one of them! Right now, the Ace Pro does better in lowlight. And with the Ace Pro 2 due to launch in a few weeks, I think it's a good idea to hold off until we see what that can do.

I’m looking for a small action camera, not for action, but for mall walking tours, city walks and walks at night in the city lights. Mostly POV walks. I already have a pocket 3 which is amazing, and a GoPro which is great for sunny skies but fails in low or artificial light. Im thinking of the Action 5, and I also think I’m leaning towards possibly the Go3S. Do you think it could film inside malls without jitter and with accuracy in the mixed light? I love the idea of using the pendant to walk, as well as the hat clip. But the action 5 looks solid as well and perhaps better in low light? And of course there’s the insta 360 ACE Pro! Thoughts?

I see plenty of mixed reviews on the action 5.. I will wait for many updates to happen before getting it.. Until then am super happy with the pocket 3.

na, this ain't it, forget about that dumbass 180 degree rule and bump the shutter speed faster than 2 times the framerate, as others said, at least 1/120.

To improve Rocksteady's low-light performance, set the shutter speed to 1/120. Rocksteady doesn't work well below 1/100 shutter. In automatic mode I usually use 1/200~1/8000 for the day, and 1/120~1/8000 for the night, this way I guarantee that the stabilization will always work.

Turn that shutter up to 1/120 or higher and your jitters will vanish completely. 1/60 is too low to not get jitters with lights. But this footage looks gorgeous. Just crank that shutter. And ISO. It’ll remove all jitters.

loved the vid. yep I have the dji action 5 pro and i can never hate DJi yep there are flaws in the camera but I still love it as well as the DJi Neo with all the flaws I still love it.. im sure DJI will address the issues but to me the issues don't bother me.

Brother i see you record on the pocket 3. I have question about the AUTO tracking mode. When i bought the camera and when i turned it on it autmaticly tracked my face. alslo there is a mode about that but now they just dont work. To track me i have to double tap. Please tell me why is this about. I even factory reset the camera, i calibrated the gimble but still nothing and the camera is new.

I think the Action 5 was confused with your tan. It didn't know if it needed to grade your skin Latin or Caucasian! LOL

Absolutely epic video buddy … I had it on the tv and the misses said she’d loved it too. Few questions. Straight video … no 10bit with post colourisation? Secondly, I’m guessing the screen dimming was battery saving or did it stay dimmed throughout the rest of filming? Mine arrived a few days ago and I film ebike reviews, been using the Ace Pro for a while but now I’m an action cam addict (bought my first one a year ago and bought most since, X4, GoPro 12, GoPro 13: insta360 3S, DJI pocket 3, and the for mentioned the Insta360 Ace Pro and now this) and finally happy with my sound, took me a while but I’ve got there now. For me I may now be able to simplify it down to 5pro and the DJI 2 mic and my iPhone 15 Pro Max which means not having to carry soooo much stuff that I invariably never need. I’ve two reviews to do next week, so I’ll be using this set up for those … getting the workflow tuned in. Plus. With the Ace Pro 2.0 imminent I’ll probably buy that too (I’m going to be reviewing other things so the best action cam is going to be important). Keep up the good work chap, this video deserves far more views but I guess this is a flooded marketplace of reviewers, but I’ve followed you for a long time and love your work. I feel I’ve been on holiday with this one. 😂 Oh yeah … I did wonder about the shopping trolleys.

This video is so good! In the last month I’ve bought the osmo pocket 3 and the DJI mini 4 pro and the action 5 is definitely in my list especially as we are heading to Orlando next October

The low light is very noisy, still jittery and a bit over sharpened. I know upping the shutter speed manually helps with the jitters. DJI should do something about that ASAP in a firmware update though.

Wow. That was a great test of the Action 5 and a pretty good showcase of the parks. I guess they're doing as well as they can with the lowlight mode and the small sensor but it looks really processed. I'm wondering how it compares to the Ace Pro's Pure Video mode.

Thanks for this great review! Well done! The low-light quality from this camera is terrible. I used it this year at the Burning Man festival, and the nighttime images were just awful. I hope DJI releases a better 360 product soon. In the meantime, I'll keep filming at night with my Canon R5 Mark II 🙂
