How old? Used to love the swather job, it had air conditioning AND the CASSETTE PLAYER! I could jam on Guns & Roses or Metallica instead of stupid AM country radio like most of the other tractor driving jobs I had that used the ancient tractors while dad and the hired man drove the new Magnums.

Lol, that disc has maybe 20 blades if that on hard packed sandy ground, I can assure you with new 24 inch blades and in the ground it would stop that 4020 in it tracks, I have a heavier 10 foot John Deere 225 offset in black land will load a 4430

I have a buddy with a turbo charged 3020 that’s about 110 hp and it will pull a 40 blade disk with 22 inch blades and handles it fine in sandy or heavy black wet land

It's been a couple of years since I last watched this video. I still miss and regret having to sell my 1966 4020 with the M&W turbo kit on her. Such is life I guess...

Whenever you add a turbo, you also have to "turn up" the fuel delivery from the injection pump if you want the benefit of the turbocharger and if you don't want a lean-burn condition to occur. It's all part of the turbocharger kit add-on procedure. It's simple physics really... more air requires more fuel.

im pretty sure that just adding the turbo wouldnt add much horsepower, however it would make it a bit more efficient. i dont think you would see any significant gains untill you changed some govenor springs. changing those tiny springs can change your peak torque and rpm. you could potentiallly raise the horsepower by 50 or more horsepower conservatively by doing that and maybe some other injector pump componets.

Pretty good video just a few problems though a John Deere 4020 diesel didn't come from the factory with a turbo. The turbo charged 4020 came out later and was called the 4320 and also if at all possible u may want to grease that disc. Just my thoughts

@superturbodiesel i hope you relies i was about 7 or 8 when i learned to drive on this so yes it was harder when i was younger. actually we ended up splitting the tractor and replacing the linkage and clutch plate due to high hours when i was about 12. now it shifts like a dream and still runs perfectly fine. it never misses gears or grinds with the new parts.

Appears to be a '67 model, as early '68's came with the side console hydraulics.
@MultiBaldEagle
@MultiBaldEagle 14 жыл бұрын
From 1965 thru 1969, they had the hydraulic controls on the left side of the dash. Beginning in 1970, when they started making the 4320, 4620 and 6030, they put the hydraulics on the console on the right side of the seat.

@corrysewell i dont think this 4020 has a typical setup. most have the controls where you said, this looks like its set up for a loader. i think id rather have that setup so i didnt have to reach for the hydraulics when im baling or mowing.
