Thanks for the video Steph! I would very much appreciate your advice. I'm currently 24 and have the choice of starting the PGDL now or in one year. If I chose to delay it, I could get an extra qualification in project management and go travelling a bit but it would delay me by one year and would mean I qualify at the age of 29 instead of 28... my question is-will I be much older compared to everyone else ? Will this slow down my career? I also am not 100% sure yet that I want to do law ... maybe 75% sure so perhaps an extra year is needed to think about options even if getting law work experience is incredibly hard for the position I'm in! Any guidance would be much appreciated!

The average age of qualifying as a solicitor in the uK is 30 for men and 29 for women so I wouldn't worry at all. Aside from that I wouldn't generally put to much focus on "slowing down" a career, even if you qualified at 35 or 50 it would still be great especially if you aren't actually 100% on law yet

What kind of folders did you use ? So were your notes only the SGS outcomes ? So instead of taking lecture notes you only take notes based on the SGS ?

I just had basic folders (from Wilko's I believe) but any ringbinder folder should be fine. And yes that's correct re notes

I don't know if there's a minimum age but the route I took to qualify took 6 years (3 years undergrad, 1 year law school and 2 years training) so I guess as soon as you can legally leave school you can do that

Understand that a vac scheme is a holistic assessment. You've got to do well overall and the most important bit is probably the interpersonal / people you work with liking you tbh. Yes work hard on the written task / group assessment etc and make sure all work is handed in on time but don't get too in your head if for whatever reason something goes wrong with that because you're assessed overall not just on one bit
