You can order the vent with or without screen. Website clearly says to buy without screen if for dryer.

I also bought and installed the same one Dave is Holden up 2 months ago at most. At first I was pumped up, until today when I guess the conditions where and are currently right. The flap is right now flapping away. The slight popping and banging noise is driving me to drink on a Friday afternoon. I guess an Email to Dave the owner of Luxury Metals is due I suppose,we have to see how he responds to such problem. Can’t say 100% that I’m a satisfied customer tht I once was. I initially thought this product was awesome. If only I could have seen this video,read all comments on this thread before purchasing it. The guy at the top of comments is the owner of this small company. He seems very helpful in all othe Emails so I plan on giving him a chance to explain. Who knows it could be me or the houses pressurization making this happen. Leading to a conclusion of not the product that failed but the installer/ME tht installed it wrong.

@@reddye2331it’s fine. It’s just a common thing in all vents that’s hard to solve. They all make a flap sound in the wind. Best bet is to add a bumper on the bottom to soften the impact of the little flap slamming.

I would just lube it with some spray graphite. Graphite will lubricate but not gum up or burn off

Exactly what him said. Any type of lube/oil will work for a while until the heat dissipates it. Then back to same problem. Sadly graphite is ur only option. As far as I know of. Thick as heavy axle packing grease would work right but I would think it would be way to big of a risk of catching fire in a chimney exhaust.

Can you tell me if this would stop smoke being blown into a neighbouring house? My Neighbours have a summer house in there garden 4 metres from our home, were a bit lower down and their flue is level with the bedroom window. Our house fills with the smell of smoke like it’s coming in lol very window and we’re suffering ill health from it we’ve spoke to the neighbours and they have agreed to make the flue higher. (No idea if that will actually help) but would of of these help a bit more?

​@@amyalexahubthis just stops the downdraft of smoke. If anything, it might blow more smoke into your house, not sure though.

The problem you are having is most likely due to pressure differential between the outside and the inside of the house. I have that problem with my home. A strong wind blows across the house creating low pressure on the outside and it sucks air out of the home. This pushes the damper open and slams it shut when the pressure differential reverses. It took me a few years to figure that out. I have yet to develop a solution. I wonder if a tighter house would have less of an issue.

@@drooplug a tighter house causes more of a pressure differential. That pressure will want to equalize even more by rushing into the vents. It takes the path of least resistance like electricity.

Hello did you ever resolve the problem with the wind blowing back down carbon oxide or smoke ? I hope you did then you could have lies me please .
