God bless the Free State of Kansas, and Good Ol John Brown. Also bless the men of Missouri that fought for the Union, of which there were more than twice the amount than fought for the illegitimate Missouri Confederate government. It's a shame that every time a video like this comes out, the Lost Causers crawl out of the woodwork like, well, you know what.

And the pundits call US Grant a butcher?? Hood was a butcher. But his army could not afford such catastrophic losses. 2/3rds in 30 days & 6 Generals? Yea. Hood was not the guy to lead an army. He was good at division command when he was younger.

This is the miricle that I am here... Great grandpa fought with the Union and the other great grandpa fought for the Confederate at this battle. Luckly the Union great grandfather was captured the first day and then released a littlle after that. Probable because it was a Civil war. They both fought at the battle for Atlanta. Confederate great grandfather was wounded. That's all that I could get from relatives in Mississippi. Thank God they both survived that terrible war. Thank God it started the freeing of the slaves...

The primary cause of the American civil war was preservation of the Union. Then 2 years later Lincoln freed the slaves making that the secondary reason of the civil war. It's terrible how Americans could kill Americans like that. If we ever had another civil war there wouldn't be no Mason-Dixon line, no North between South. It would be so chaotic. I would dare call it the chaotic civil war the CCW

This is great example of a stupid unnecessary war. It could have been resolved by people approaching the issues in a logical manner. First question from each side should have been what will happen if you lose the war. The loss to the United States financially and from a growth standpoint was enormous. While the loss to the families on either side was immeasurable. Yes, war is necessary, WW2 being the best example.

My family came in thru maryland in the mid 1600s...our progenitor was granted 600 acres of land given the position of high sheriff of kent county. Family moved south fought thru the war. A distance member in the 3 rivers district in kentucky who was pro union had his 2 sons brutally murdered while out hunting by roving yankee troopers looking for bush wackers. After hanging the boys the yankees decapitated them and took the heads to their home where they posted each head upon the entry post to the family property...this grisly sight greeted the parents as they returned from church. Jack hinson's mind was made up from that moment.. He comissioned a custom rifle from the local gun smith. He become known as the 3 rivers sharp shooter dispatching over 100 union officers upon the union boats heading south...read the book jack Hinson's private war. Book researched & written by a yankee!! 😅

A kindergarten explaination of the war. This confict is not as simple as the coverage which it receives. One must study several years preceding the event possibly even a decade or two. Goverment politics, and intrigue & the love of money is much more involved yet receives no credit. One aspect that has been revealed with the few unclassified documents released since ww2 on the war & other conflicts whic followed is the goverment lies and or spins the truth to met their agenda. Truth requires a serious in depth study of politics both american & the european banking system. The truth is in there hidden by powerful defects of greed, envy, anger, & ruthless desire for power regardless the lost of life. And it may not be what you want to accept. Truth sets you free but can turn your world up side down yet the knowledge gained is worth the suffering...

Trailer narration shouldn't have used the phrase "politically inspired Northern nobodies helped REWRITE American history." Shouldn't not have used the word "rewrite" because it is not a time travelling movie. The "politically inspired Northern nobodies helped WRITE American history", as a political force of young people who helped Lincoln get elected President.

When I visited the Wilson Creek Battlefield I knew very little about it. When I saw the way things unfolded, it dawned on me that it was Chancellorsville in reverse. There an vastly outnumbered army split in two, and while one force (under Lee) held the front against Hooker's Union Army while a striking force (under Stonewall Jackson) circled around to their flank and struck a Union force of Germans. Here at Wilson's creek, a vastly outnumbered Union army split in two with a main force (under Lyon) facing the Confederate front while a striking force (under Siegel) circled around and hit the flank, that force was mainly Germans. The results were very different though, as the Confederates prevailed in both battles.

One day the truth of this war will be told. For beginners lets start with how the two armies were built. In the north there were many willing to fight but for different reasons. The worst of it were the New York draft riots, a Confederate intelligence operation run out of Canada. Now in the South only rich, influential land/slave owners were willing to fight, some not so ambitious but still supported the war. The poor, uneducated of the south were manipulated by religious zealoism, lies and force.

I walked Pickett's Charge years ago with several pals when we went there to visit the battlefield . Walking the near mile from Seminary to Cemetery Ridges filled me with senses of dread & sorrow bc in taking each forward step, there was at least one or a number of Confederate soldiers who were killed all the way up to the stone wall & the copse of trees yonder😔😒

Grew up in Manassas. The stone house (Henry House) is still there. Most of the battlefield is still there and preserved. You can see how the battle played out just standing on the ground. I highly recommend anyone interested to visit. One of the best preserved battlefields from the war.

Springfield was in a bad spot and not staunchly pro union as you say. Just because Springfield was not guarded constantly by the state guard who had plenty to do, allowed the union to camp there but didnt make the majority of the citizens union. People in that area preferred to not mention which side they were on. Many of them switched after what Lincoln did. The union would stop by a house and take the males for their side. The confederates would do the same. The mayor of Springfield had to duplicate the ferry boat operation on the movie The Outlaw Josey Wales (real name Bill Wilson), and pretend to be on the side of whichever side came to town. Many brothers ended up on opposite sides. Technically, the civil war had already started in Missouri due to the Missouri/Kansas border war in the 1850's. Many dont think about Missouri and Kansas being the actual start of the war prior to secession of the states.

I made them mad at Wilsons Creek museum and was told to leave. I asked why they had false information that stated Missouri was not part of the Confederacy. I told them the real history while several people were listening. Lincoln told the Missouri governor that Missouri could remain neutral. Lincoln then sent federal troops to St Louis and they killed many citizens. Lincoln then sent troops to the state capitol of Jefferson City. The governor and other voted in officials fled to SW Missouri. Lincoln appointed his own chosen governor and officials to control the state. This was unconstitutional since they were not voted in by the people. The governor sent a message to Jefferson Davis from Neosho, Mo. requesting to join the Confederacy and Missouri became the 12th star on the Confederate flag. Kentucky shortly later became the 13th due to similar actions from Lincoln. The Wilsons Creek associate turned red and asked me to leave after a few of the crowd told me thanks for telling the truth. Lincoln knew the whole time that he had to cut off the Mississippi, Missouri and Ohio rivers from the confederacy and had lied to both Missouri and Kentucky about it being ok to remain neutral. Before long, they will have the union winning the battle. Its sad how our government is operating. The confederates had to send supplies up the White River to Forsyth, Mo. which only allowed smaller boats and was a long twisty river journey.
