There is a tree story behind this song, but I think I read something years ago about this song was written about a friend of Phil Collins, how this guy wasn't getting along with his son and one night they got into a great big argument, so Phil went to there house to try to make peace between them and apparently the guy shot and killed his son, right there in front of Phil. I got robbed at gunpoint bout 20 years ago. The purse they stole had my brother's letters from basic training in em, that crushed me. I didn't care about anything else, but that stuck with me.
