Back when I was newly married and still kinda developing relationships with my wife's childhood friends, her and I were invited to a house warming party by a friend of ours named Jessi. And between her and my wife, I got an earful about how talented Jessi's little bro was, and I was skeptical to say the least. I'm a vocalist snob and always have been. So I walk into this party and I can hear someone playing guitar and singing in the kitchen, so naturally I investigated. What I found was a long haired skinny little 16 yo Steven Rosenbalm singing at a higher level than I had ever encountered in person, in my life. And my whole life I was raised around talented musicians and singers... he still blew my mind. I asked him if he knew a song called "Welcome home" by Coheed & Cambria because that's what his voice made me think of at the time, and he responded by playing and singing the first few lines. I was convinced at that point that this kid was special, but over the next few years he would confirm that feeling over and over again. After he auditioned for the voice, before the blinds audition, I actually had to convince him to continue forward with it because he started doubting himself. And I couldn't believe someone as talented as him would ever experience self doubt. So I told him what I tell everyone when I'm talking about Steven. He has the best voice I've ever heard in person. These recordings and the voice performances DO NOT do him justice. The power combined with precise control, when he's sitting right in front of you, is something you can't experience through a recording. I'm lucky to have experienced it many times, as he honed his skill for us mere mortals, while we got drunk lol. I actually have a lot of stories about how great this guy is, vocals aside. He's a genuinely nice and down to earth, humble dude. One quick example is way back when he was on the voice, he came down to visit for a couple of days and as busy as he was, he still came to my apartment and played a surprise private set for my 4 yo daughter and my mother, both of whom were big fans of his at the time. No charge, and didn't hesitate when I asked him. I still have the recording and pics from that day. Just a fantastic human being. Anyways lol Steven if you ever read this (which I may text you and tell you to read it lol) I love you, brother and Congrats on the success and here's to more to come!
