You know that sinking feeling you get when you think you've lost your phone? Well, that feeling struck me on my way to work this morning but thankfully The Game Deflators saved me! I realized my phone was somewhere in my car once I heard the dulcet tones of John & Ryan's voices playing through the speakers. Thank you, Game Deflators. Thank you.

Congratulations on 250 episodes! Wishing you both well and another 250 great episodes. My favorite was the starter pack episode where y'all put together a beginner set of games for someone just starting in the hobby. It was the best idea I've ever stolen from the internet. Cheers gentlemen and thank you for making my work commute a little less insufferable.

Great discussion Too bad I wasn't a part of this podcast I have a lot of stuff to say about Microsoft and Xbox. They haven't cared about Xbox as a console or gamers since the 360 The heart and soul of Xbox is gone It's all and end to a means And that means is to sell Game pass They don't care about the consoles they don't care about physical media and fact if they can totally get on a digital only game pass ecosystem so they could stop paying Sony for 4K Blu-ray they will collecting video games is dying with all the updates patches physical disks not even having a full game on it Just look at the new Star Wars title Hogwarts Legacy single player games that require online internet connection and massive downloads just to play them That's insane! And Sony is slowly itching to that too in order to keep up with Microsoft's game pass Nintendo will be the last bastion for physical media in collecting. Microsoft's and goal is to get people so addicted and so reliant on game pass by making it an affordable option that everyone buys into it and then once they achieve that on all the platforms including a toaster and a toilet then they'll jack up the price but by then it'll be too late cuz everybody is invested in it just like how Netflix used to be pretty affordable until they kept raising the price on it and putting restrictions on account sharing.

Video game prices increased this generation and may increase again in the new future. With this being the expectation, what is your limit on price for new games?

Epic trying to prove something doesn't quite sound right. For context, back in the day, Apple attacked IBM using the 1984 commercial promising "freedom" for computer users. Apple essentially attacked their competitors for the very same thing they are doing now, only worse. On one hand you could say it was calling out the do as we say, not as we do attitude Apple used to gain dominance. On the other hand though, its a bit more than that. Microsoft got hit with violating anti-trust laws for forcing its own web browser onto users using its OS. The same logic should apply to what Apple is doing right? Apparently not, double standards that keep working in Apple's favor. I believe Epic was attempting to trigger that particular cause and effect which hit Microsoft for some reason, but not Apple. Apple has been constantly using underhanded means over the years to get their competition to suffer for things they are guilty of and the only way Epic thought they could get this hypocrisy addressed was in the courts. Not to mention, Apples own rules in their app store were not applied evenly. Streaming services were allowed to circumvent the payment processor and fee, while say, games like Fortnight were not, despite them being account based.

Thank you for the comment and listening in. Really appreciate the thoughtful response here. Unfortunately we seem to be in a period of time (more so than in the past) in which money can buy you out of just about anything, including corrupt business practices. Since we recorded this episode a few months back, it appears that the DOJ is drafting a potential antitrust lawsuit.

The point is about allowing the community can recreate / replicated the original titles, hardware, and documenting and sell them at cost. New games can be created without any need to pay a royalty or license to the current Vectrex IP rights holder Jay Smith. The newly created games can be sold for any amount they can command. Thankfully most modern programmers offer their games at a reasonable price for the boxed versions. And very low cost version or even free when downloads are available.

This is one of the things that excited me the most about the Vectrex and it's community. I was looking over multicarts recently and I need to get one ASAP. Such an awesome system and I'm sad it never truly took off.
