Im so sorry you got so much hate as a beginner dude, even WATCHING your animations, they look fantastic, and that writing teacher you had, should have had a better idea to criticize you other than having the other students tell you how awful it is. I hope you will have a much better day today than you did back then.

I had a less extreme version that made me genuinely cry, Basically i choose to write my at the time favorite story about a god who wanted to die but needed a replacement. I loved it and started writing as soon as possible and tried my best to make it into a short story. Work shop came and all negatives will only one person liking it. Everyone else got praise for their stories. The second workshop was a poem and i don't understand poems so i tried really hard on my presented one. Crickets. The worst feeling was when a classmate did his last minute and told us that and it was genuinely great. I'm genuinely afraid of writing and sharing it because i fear the same response

@@shatteredmoonstudies I’m sorry that happened to you! I think workshops (and schools in general) need to actually teach about how to give critique before allowing people to go off, especially if it’s just negative critique and nothing about ways to improve. I hope it doesn’t keep you from writing, theres an audience out there for everyone and there are people who’ll love to read what you write!

I did a school project for my favorite band, and while researching I found out that the lead was abusive to multiple girlfriends he dated whilst married to another member of the band. Win Butler, Arcade Fire. :(

Throughout my entire life, I was told that I was never good enough to be a musician. I constantly get told to give up. Even my exboyfriend told me that I would never be as good as Amalee, because she was Amalee. Fuck anyone who tries to bring you down.

I’m sorry, but can I please throw hands at that teacher? PLEASE???? Like- for real. I will YEET that teacher. 😭😭😭 but in all seriousness, that was just fucking cruel. This somewhat relates in the realm of teachers being sucky af and trying to destroy your dreams and passions- mine kinda betrayed my trust. She was an art teacher and was horrible. She made us buy ridiculously expensive art supplies, told us we couldn’t be “artists” if we didn’t draw realistically. And not only that but gave me detention without telling me why during spirit week. And threatened to lower my grade because of how I stared at her in class after that. Ninth grade Bella held a grudge because she didn’t apologize. And she almost made me hate my craft. So- I was trying my best to improve out of SPITE. So, needless to say, I have never taken another art class since then. I don’t want the experience to repeat.

Bad art teachers are the worst! I've been lucky to have positive experiences with art teachers, but I have heard some horror stories. I'm sorry that she turned you off from art classes, that;s really not cool of her!

I had an art teacher who was more passionate of classic art, and even told us 'Don't go into anime or video game art because that is a waste of pure talent'. He was genuinely ok as a teacher except for one time we were make paper craft and were given xacto knives. I opened mine and accidentally cut myself. I got up and asked to see the nurse for a band aid and he just goes, 'Did you really cut yourself with an xacto knife? Really?' like in a tone that's similar to 'Really idiot?'. I sat in my chair and didn't take another art class until college. College courses were better. My teachers were positive in critiques and especially my sketch teacher because I have a hard time with perspective and started crying because I could hear high school art teacher going 'Really idiot?'. She comforted me and told me to take a breather and I could work on the assignment another time, if need be, giving me pointers and tips. Managed to do a couple.

I'm so sorry, that was the worst way a teacher could do for creative writing class. In my case most my English and creative writing teacher always encouraged writing and at one point I had joined a poetry club, I participated in youth poetry slams and even won 1st place in a poetry contest while my creative writing teacher loved seeing and hearing short snippets of stories I made for daily prompts we did (I think he actually has my copy of a short story I made for his class cause I don't remember him giving back the printed version lol, good thing I still of a google doc of it). But when I got to college, I took a craft course that studied short stories, poetry and novels and their techniques. The teacher had a masters in Poetry, literally his introduction email said he was a Doctor of Poetry. I was doing well enough with short story and best with novel writing, but when we got to poetry and I turned in poem after poem he gave me C's or D's and in one critique I remember specifically was, 'Your poetry is like a melodramatic teenager writing in their diary'. I EVEN TURNED IN THE POEM THAT WON THE CONTEST AND IT GOT A D. Finally, I tried to write a poem in the style he liked, the ones that could have a million meanings and every line an enigma. It hurt my creative soul, but I got an A on that one. After that I kind of stopped writing poetry. I want to get back into it, because I remember how much fun it was to perform poetry, I actually want to try writing a collection of fantasy themed poetry, as well as novels and webcomic ideas swimming around in my head. Also your cybergirl project sounds awesome! I'm gonna look that up after work!

I’m sorry that happened to you D: I don’t understand why professors grade badly for not catering to personal tastes. It doesn’t mean theres something wrong with your writing, it just means it doesn’t appeal to everyone, and grading you badly because it didn’t appeal to him was unfair

Unfortunately, there will always be some buttholes who'll pick on younger artists/writers because apparently it's "cool" to crush kids' dreams. But what I don't understand is WHAT THE HECK WAS YOUR TEACHER THINKING?? Like, it's one thing for your peers to take apart your creation. But he literally created that situation by having you read in front of the whole class!! There are so many other ways to give someone criticism on their work without utterly humiliating them!!

Yeah for sure, like that teacher sounds like a butt, having other kids tell someone how AWFUL their story is, and to completely humiliate them??? And to have them rewrite it into a boring simple story, man this guy is ticking me off. And I HATE IT EVEN MORE, when people(My guess is teens or older kids) pick on younger/beginner artists for being themselves and making things that may not be at a proficient level, people these days are so cruel

Can confirm we’re working on s3! no release date yet, just cause life/work/education keeps getting in the way for all of us (s1 & 2 were written mostly in lockdown) but we’re well on the way to getting s3 done!

Ok but the Magnus archives ones could be fanart. We technically don’t have a canon description for the characters, but most people agree on how they look, and your characters look like them

Nobody ever said they thought it was TMA fan art, just that they look similar, so I haven't had the problem of people assuming my OC is a canon character from a podcast issue. The descriptions for these characters in the podcast are so vague, but its not really helpful to say every punk looking person is Gerry, or every nerdy looking character with a green theme is Jon and gets a bit annoying after a while, especially when none of them are similar in personality. Not to mention at least two of the characters in the video that were compared to characters in pieces of media I never watched before (Dead End and Hazbin Hotel). I made this video all in good fun tho, the only one that actually bothered me (more in the "where the hell did you even get that???" kind of way) was the very last one, which is the only reason why I made this video in the first place. I personally never want to watch Hazbin Hotel. And I think I'm allowed to be a little annoyed considering I get a lot of comments, especially on KZbin, for OC to media character comparisons, even if the comparison is a stretch, which I think in the terms for all of the characters, but 2 in this video, are stretches.

I had something sorta similar. A partial set of extra teeth in the roof of my mouth in third grade. Had to get them surgically removed before they went and grew out somewhere… unpleasant.

@@hawkfurze well, teeth form from single cells differentiated before you are born. It is totally possible that nothing else weird could be there to find! I will cross my fingers that you don’t need any mouth surgery. I have had three over the years and it sucks extra bad every time. I love your art btw its beautiful :)
