Not as high of a strenght but the Derms that run Doctorly created a brand called Remedy and their retinaldehyde serum is pretty interesting on paper. .05 Retinal, 0.1% retinol, Matrixyl 3000 Peptide Complex, Argireline, 2% Niacinamide, Green Tea, and a bit of Lactic and Glycolic acids. The combo of retinol and retinal together seems a little interesting but what pushes it over the edge for me is the Argireline and Matrixyl 3000.

Only the Medik8 24 is higher that I know of. This one is the one I’m using right now and I love it. I went through a whole tube of The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% and I was able to hop right on board with using it every night, but I put the Ordinary amino + B5 on my skin first. Zero irritation. All I know is I’m not paying $120 for a 0.24 concentration, whether it’s Medik8 and formulated really well or not. That’s just ridiculous and almost as much as an electric bill for 1 product within an entire routine. With this G&G retinal being 30ml, I’ll probably stick with this for a while. The ONLY benefit The Ordinary has is that I can walk into any Ulta or Sephora and pick it up in under an hour, but hopefully I can plan accordingly and reorder when I’m running low with no issues.

If there is improvement may be you can continue to use it longer. Or you can try to use hydroquinone first then use loreal as maintenance since hydroquinone is not safe for long term use. Maybe Melasyl works but the percentage is lower and it's more gentle and takes longer to work? I know someone who used Thiamidol in Eucerin works for her very severe melasma but it took her few months like at least 8 months to see a drastic improvement.
