That was reality climbing with tangles included, double lanyard advancing, etc. I would love to know how James retrieved that MRS anchor at minute 21

That had all the tangles, rope management, and production pressure of reality climbing. I learn a great deal from your videos, thank you again for filming and posting!

Hi James, that canopy anchor tied at minute 12 was smooth! I would love to know which knot was used to bypass rethreading the throw line.

It’s a bowline on a bight with a overhand stopper.

Thanks again James, Work is permitting me to use SRT…..I’ve been challenged by navigating my company’s odd combination of policy restrictions on equipment (no quickie shackles). The double bowline choking canopy anchor you demonstrated is interesting to my foreman, and it may streamline our work soon - especially while advancing a tie in. Also, I’ve been enjoying practicing the foot lock with an adjustable bridge and hitch climber/petzl chicane combo..the handle and hitch-divorced attachment of the Chicane un-complicates a lot for me.

Great vids! The form & style on that sideways skywalking locking had the kids forgetting all about foot ascenders 😁👌👏

that is a very interesting scenario..
@DigitalTownSquare Жыл бұрын
Nice! For the comp are you required to isolate both ends of the climbing rope down the same passage through one union? Or can you use a basal anchor if both ends arent isolated?
@jamesearhart5645 Жыл бұрын
You can use the base anchor if it’s in an appropriate union.

Hi James, I started dabbling with tree climbing as a homeowner last summer and found foot locking to be kind to knees, wallet, and general fussing with gear. I timed the throwball event in KY last October, and your single up double down secret weapon masters climb inspired me to keep practicing. I’ve been getting more comfortable locking under a rope wrench, and pruned on a secret weapon-the Distel hitch is far less binding than the classic klemheist. I start work as a climbing trainee next week and I would love to know how that neck tether helped your ascent. Keep up the great climbing-its helping noobs like me.
@jamesearhart5645 Жыл бұрын
Hey man, definitely keep practicing the footlock! It’s no longer a necessary skill, but certainly a very useful one. The tether on the collar keeps the harness bridge up and taught, this ensures that nothing gets caught while ascending.

Nice job! Hey how do you prepare for this event exactly? And was that line you made access there to simulate a riging line? Or did you set that before the scenario started?
@jamesearhart5645 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The line is a preset line that has to be used by every competitor to get in the tree. It simulates any and all safe lines that may be present on any give work site. Preparing for this event is best done with setting up a similar scenario at home and working through the steps.
