We are playing the Sunless Citadel from the Yawning Portal. You probably agree that it is the easiest campaign to start. I am taking this campaign and homebrewing some elements into it with a main theme that will drive the hero's all over the place. So far so good with the campaign, but you know as well as I do, things can get out of control pretty quick. Thank you for watching Rez.

@nerdknights1122 I am enjoying it quite a lot! I also brought in some Elements for the future of my Player's Journey. We play at the Kitchen Table with Maps, Minis and Handouts. Watching the Sunless Citadel (here in Germany it is called "Die Zitadelle in ewiger Nacht" which translates to "The Citadel in eternal Night") on your Channel is a real treat and brings back many Memories. Keep it up.^^ You and your Friends really seem to enjoy playing.

@kasparbaktat9645 күн бұрын
@@nerdknights1122 Totally agree with you! Looks good and IMHO Syrus is in Betrayer's War way a lot easier to paint. In the base game, the combination of him and the phoenix on one base, kind of forced me to dabble in OSL. Now one can focus on just one mini at a time. But this also means, Syrus looks less interesting.
@rezthemediaruler37686 күн бұрын
Oy. A very good Job on painting Syrus and your other Projects you‘ve already done. Do you have any DnD Miniatures? I started painting last Year and I am still afraid of painting some of my Figures. I already painted a Yuan-Ti Abomination, a Gnoll Fleshgnawer, two Mimiks (Chest and Barrel), a Blue Dragon Wyrmling, a White Dragon Wyrmling, a young White Dragon, a Young Green Dragon and a Beholder, as well as an Minsc and Boo Miniature. But I am still a bit unsatisfied and afraid to paint the other Chromatic Dragons and the Jin-Gitaxias and Acererak Miniatures. My Players where very happy seeing those Minis and said that I did an good Job on painting them. They even bought me Durnan of the Yawning Portal and Halaster Blackcloak as Christmas Gifts… which are still in their Grits. The Figure I am mostly afraid of painting is my Adult Black Dragon Figure, which I would like to paint like it is shown on the Box… It was very expensive and I want to bring it to life very badly, because it will be the Main Antagonist of my first own Campaign. So, if you have any DnD Miniatures you haven’t painted yet, I would gladly watch you doing it and try to learn more on adding Shades and Highlights as well as choosing the right Colors and how to add them to the Figure. Have a nice day and thank you for sharing your experience with us Viewers.^^

Hey Rez First off, thank you for watching the channel and leaving a comment. I have not painted any DND miniatures but I plan to in the future. I am currently doing the DND stream online since it's hard to get everyone together every week. We are on the 4th episode coming up next Friday. I would wait on your expensive miniatures until you're more comfortable with painting. Just like anything else in life, it takes tons of practice and repetition. I started by practicing on less quality miniatures while building up my skill. Once you feel comfortable at your current level, it's time to take the next leap. Are there any specific DND miniatures you are wanting to see painted?
@rezthemediaruler37685 күн бұрын
@@nerdknights1122 Thank you for the response.^^ I just try my best on the cheaper ones and keep watching Channels like yours until I feel comfortable. Today I've painted a Skeleton and a Black Dragon Wyrmling, before trying to paint the young Black Dragon next Sunday. I'm interested on how you would paint the Young Chromatic Dragons, as well as other Figures from Nolzur's Marvellous Miniatures, like the Owlbear, the Boulette, Characters etc. Some of the Minis however would be hard to get today... so be warned. As long as you can put them to good use and enjoying the process, I would be as happy as I can get.^^ I need to watch your DnD Episodes. Maybe there are some Figures which would come to mind? I am using the 5e Sets and Campaign Books for the Adventures of my Playgroup. Maybe one of those Characters and Monsters would be nice to see brought to Life by you? Do what you like.^^ I am also hooked on the Descent Paintings you did, because I own both Boxes as well. ;D
@nerdknights11225 күн бұрын
@@rezthemediaruler3768 Hey Rez Where are you buying your DND unpainted miniatures from? I'm assuming you get them, through Nolzur's Marvellous Miniatures? Most DND minis are painted and they usually look terrible. We are currently doing the first quest in the Yawning Portal, Sunless Citadel. It would be nice to get some DND mini's painted and on the table. My plan is to get all the rest of the Descent Miniatures knocked out and some other backlog before hammering on Elden Ring the board game when it comes out at the end of March.
@rezthemediaruler37685 күн бұрын
@@nerdknights1122 I get some of the Miniatures from Stores in neighbouring Cities or over Amazon. There are also some online Shops here in Germany where you can get some if you are lucky like Fantasywelt. I don't mind the Figures which are already painted, like from the Sets of Curse of Strahd or the Tomb of Annihilation. These are the only ones I own which are already painted besides the Kobold Warband. But most of my Miniatures are indeed unpainted and I use the Color Sets from Army Painter to paint them. My Group is playing the Dragon of Icespire Peak at the Moment and I needed a young White Dragon Figure to terrorize my Players. So I bought one from Amazon and gave it my best to paint it like I imagined Cryovain the White Dragon to be. My Players love and fear the Mini equally, but I knew I've could have done a better Job at painting it... When we played the Sunless Citadel, my first attempts at painting were the Members of the Grim Troupe, consisting of a Gnoll, a Skeleton, a Yuan-Ti Abomination, a Goblin and a Kobold (not Meepo😉). They should help out my Players, whenever a Player couldn't make it to a Session and play their Part in Homebrewed Content during the Adventure and future Camlaigns. So you see, I really like being a DM and want me and my Players to have the best experience possible and the Miniatures play a big Part in it. So thank you again for doing these Videos.^^ And I hope you will get your Hands on some nice Figures at a reasonable Price so I can sit with my Cat on my lap and watch you painting them.😄

How long did the paint job take? I think the model could have benefited from some more contrast on the head of the horsy(?) and the Cavalier, but it depends on how much time it took so far. I am a very slow painter and I often come to a point, where just declare a model done, because I really don't want to work on it anymore...
@nerdknights1122Ай бұрын
These specific mini's take about 3-4 hours per mini to paint. Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of time to invest in one miniature so I like the mini to look decent without putting in a ton of extra time in. I feel like when you (the artist) are satisfied with the paint job, your work is complete. We could all sit there for days painting the same miniature and I'm sure they would look amazing, but with the amount of plastic we all have piled up, it's unrealistic. My theory: Paint until you're content. Ultimately, it's your miniature and you have to be happy with it. It's your art. Hope that helps. Anyway, thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment. You rock!
@kasparbaktat964Ай бұрын
@@nerdknights1122 I absolutely agree with your theory! Even way worse painted minis would look better on the board than grey ones. And tabletop or board games come with so many of them, that a fast but effective painting style is essential. Beginner painters often need just some guidance how to achieve this. The incredible looking can even be bad for morale. That is, why I value your channel so much! I really had no idea how to approach those Descent miniatures. And that is why I even like and comment your Warhammer related content. I am reluctant to do that too much (in general), because then the algorithm messes up my feed ;-) I really hope that you get the views your content deserves!
