As an OU fan, I will say Texas is our biggest game of the regular season simply because it's the rivalry and we place a high value on rivalry and tradition at OU. But outside of the aspect of it being a rivalry, one can definitely make the argument that we have other games that are bigger. Especially given the schedule we got.

It is now very possible that two teams play one another three times in the same year: regular season, conference championship, and playoff. With the current playoff setup and conference alignment, I think they will have to start eliminating conference championship games. Right now it's almost better to not make the championship game, but finish high enough to make the playoff.

They're expecting to be good, which is why they are saying they'll be the biggest game. That's what really determines how "big" the game is. Rivalries aside, if Ohio State was coming into Athens as the number one team in the country and Bama was ranked, say, 8th, you'd probably say Ohio State is your biggest game. If Georgia comes into Austin and both are undefeated, they're probably both in the top 3 or 4. If your other big game opponents are ranked outside the top 10, they're not going to be on equal footing. Add in the amount of viewers likely watching the game, the time slot, the fact that it is the first time playing each other in conference, etc., and you have a recipe for it being the biggest game. The national media is certainly assuming it's going to be a huge game, and they'll be correct if everything I said comes to pass. Personally, I think our floor is 9-3 and our ceiling is 11-1. On paper, Georgia is in the same boat, given their schedule.

As a statement of advice, don’t take to heart what a young dude in his early 20’s says. It’s true, UT fans don’t know about the conference like yourself and other sec veterans. With that same token sec veterans don’t know about Texas or the RRS. It’s not dumb stuff happening in the RRS it’s just the way this rivalry goes. It’s very momentous. And if you don’t know about or haven’t experienced it you won’t understand. Just like you’re saying about the landscape of the sec. Matter fact, what is a rivalry game if ain’t a toss up when rivals get on the field? That’s what makes the rivalry continuously interesting. Ewers said what he said because not only is he used to saying it but he(as well as myself) hears the noise of how the sec is going to show UT this and that. So that contributes to his response but he’s barely in his twenties. One thing that UT is used to is pundits, fanbases, beat writers, and so called analyst finding a pebble and making it Mt. Everest when it comes to UT. The sec is a great conference but lets not act like it isn’t top heavy. I couldn’t give a lesser damn about the bit12 but I also watched Mizzou need a magical 60yd field goal to win against Kstate on their home field. And Mizzou ended up 3rd in the sec power rankings. So football itself is a grind, it isn’t unique to the sec. I will say one thing that UT fans will have to get used to is sec fans. When we went to Tuscaloosa mothers of some of our players who were at the game complained about getting spat on and folks slinging water from water bottles and vile comments. One of the mothers is a Birmingham native and lives in bama and she was disgusted and upset. Now that won’t roll well with a lot of fans. To sum it up though, I think UT as a program knows exactly what they’re up against. Furthermore, I don’t think you’ll find many UT reporters or fan reporters who would spend much time on something a teenager says about the program because it happens. Oh yeah, if you don’t know that aggies are crybabies by now after 12 seasons in your league then I don’t know what to tell you; but can somehow surmise what UT is has got to be crazy.

Texas was everyone's super bowl. In SEC, it wont be that way, Thank God. Texas will definitely be biggest game for OU. Their fans demand it.

2023 stats for Carson Beck 3,941 yrds vs Jalen Milroe's 2,841 yrds. UGA is a better passing team than Alabama and most other teams. So I'm not sure why you keep saying we are big passing offense. Bama is living off Bryce Young and previous years at receiver. UGA is the top offense in the College Football. Look at the stats.

Fact is, Texas is (along with Georgia and Bama) that everyone in the SEC wants to beat. Whether you want to accept that or not, that is a fact. You sound like a big time hater. Texas showed up and beat bama last year fair and square. This isn’t the same Texas as the previous 5-10 years, I’m not saying they’ll win the Sec but they will surprise a lot of people. They have been re building that program and have a great class of recruits and an absolute stellar core of receivers and rb’s. Ewers is improving each year, and that line is arguably the best in the nation. That defense is the only question, I’m pretty sure Georgia and bama and everyone else in the SEC are looking at Texas. It’s Texas, they are a huge brand. Should be a very fun season to watch.
