Great!! I loved it! Can tell me what gear ratio do you use for a track like Francorchamps? Thanks. .
@Sc0mber2 ай бұрын
In this race the following ratios were in use (Hewland Mk9, final drive 10/31): 1. 17/33 2. 20/32 3. 22/30 4. 25/27

With the high adrenalin level during the start you don't get frightened - just annoyed - when that sort of thing happens (I've tried it 🙂). A thing that surprised me when I raced Formula Fords myself was the way that especially the start seems to happen in slow-motion due to the adrenalin and focus. I think the starts always looked much more chaotic from trackside than from behind the weel. Was your car affected at all by that 'yump'? It didn't seem to be from the video, but maybe the black Crosslé (#43) was affected as it seemed to slow coming out of Tarzan after the start. A 1990 or later Van Diemen front suspension probably wouldn't have tolerated that wheel-banging, the shorter front suspesnion arms on your RF87-RF89(?) vintage probably saved the race for you 🙂 I think what was potentially much worse was what the guy in the yellow Lotus 69 did on lap 5 when he rode over the kerb on the right and came right back over to the left afterwards on a pretty fast part of the track - I don't think he was using his mirrors. Luckily, he finally noticed corrected just before you would have banged wheels - he left you with no place to go otherwise and he had already lost that corner through his rallycrossing. Thanks for the video - and don't worry about the blurry picture - it was still very enjoyable. Zandvoort still looks like a fun circuit!
@Sc0mber Жыл бұрын
@@andersbonde2593 The suspension (RF89 front suspension on a RF88) actually was unharmed. Only the rear anti roll bar was bent and caused a mean understeering I had to struggle with.
@andersbonde2593 Жыл бұрын
@@Sc0mber Thanks for the reply. Yes, that understeer was visible in the video, especally in the tighter turns, but I hadn't linked it to the first corner incident - I just thought the car was inadvertently set up that way as it was apparent from the very first corner. Good job you did there, in spite of the understeer!

My dream is that motorsport could be in the future a global sport like football or tennis that everyone could do It everywhere and everytime
@pet3r3872 жыл бұрын
Yeah well for football you need a ball and 2 nets, for tennis you need a ball 2 rackets and a net. For motorsports you need a vehicle, a racing track, stewards and emergency responders on scene in case of a crash. And that’s the minimum. Idk how this dream is achievable but i hope someone finds a way.

That black car had to have seen you passing by really wonder how he still hit you. Guessing that the things you comment on in your comment is the reason you caught half the field sleeping at the restart before the crash red flagged the race.
@Sc0mber3 жыл бұрын
Well... the basic idea of (full course-) CODE60 is to instantly slow down every car in every place to 60kph to freeze the gaps between each car. Even with modern sportscars having speed limiter buttons and complete GPS-surveillance this only barely works if the race control is punishing really every rule violation very strickly (see in WEC, NLS, etc.). ...but with cars that do not even have a speedometer, and no real time surveillance at all...? ...actually here again the CODE60 became a factual FCY. No gaps were preserved, the grid collected itself tightly before restart. ...and then you can see what happens in FCY situations: A few drivers are strained to watch every marshall post for bringing out green flag, everytime and everywhere on the track. As you have no radio, you just don't know when to expect restart, so you are on high alert literally all the time. ...that's everything but save! ...especially with many drivers doing something else in their cars but not watching out for restart. A safety car is literally the only way reasonable way at the moment as the restart area is clearly defined an the restart is announced by safety car lighting.
