man it looks ALOT like a perkins i rebuilt for a customer - those timing cover oil pan block areas are wonderfully hard to leak proof! I recommend fords proprietary RTV they designed - its even better than permatex ultra but i guess u have it all together already. Nice looking!

I don't.. They're just 3/8" standard bolts so I just tightened them down without a torque wrench

You did a beautiful job... I'm happy for you... I'm looking into doing the same thing to the same kind of tractor.. If its not to personal...roughly how much did it cost to rebuild the engine??? Mine is blowing blowby oil all over my hood
@jerryingraham802310 ай бұрын
I honestly didn’t keep track. It wasn’t cheap, as I wanted to be thorough. If you don’t have any lower end issues and just need to hone the sleeves and rearing it you can probably do it for under a grand.

I just became a subscriber today because I'm working on what looks like the same tractor.. I replaced all the fuel filters, and it never ran again.. I hired a shop to look at it, and they said my injector pump died??????
@jerryingraham802310 ай бұрын
Well, if you watch my videos you’ll see that once I had my engine done, it wouldn’t start. The injection pump had been working fine but after sitting wouldn’t work. There are several components in the pump that can stick and cause it not to work-the pump pistons, the little check valve spring assembly, etc. I rebuilt mine and it fired up. There are videos on everything step in my playlist. Did you bleed your injector lines at the injectors?
@annajohnston247210 ай бұрын
What were the filter part numbers? I’m working in a 1966 530 CK.
@skookumsawmilling765310 ай бұрын
I can't find the primary cartridge number but the Case number for it is A35863. Your Napa store can cross reference that. The Napa Gold number for the secondary filter is 3165.
@jedfreels687911 ай бұрын
had the same issue with the search for an o ring finally did the same as you and put the old one back in. but I did make this realization. If that o ring leaks at all it just allows oil back into the oil reserve. so the pump will still deliver most of the oil to the system but may just leak a little back. at least thats my thought.

Love your work keep it up, question thou? Not sure on the thought process at 2:58 on oil pump teeth clearance. how is the gauge set up measuring the clearance between the crest of the tooth on the crank and the gear valley on the pump (or vise versa )? I just use a feeler gauge between them at point of contact. am I seeing things wrong? Thanks I love your videos and they have been very helpful
@skookumsawmilling765311 ай бұрын
I was only trying to measure backlash. Honestly, I didn't even check clearance.

i'm losing ps fluid how else can i tell if it gets into the crankcase and how does it also get in there newtohoedude?
@skookumsawmilling765311 ай бұрын
If it's ending up in the crankcase, it must be leaking through the pump shaft seal. I don't know how to tell if it is getting in the crankcase other than your oil level would rise.

Im slowly making my way through this series, you were very thorough. It’s impressive! You should add “case 188” somewhere in the title, I searched lots of videos on 188/207 rebuilds and none were as thorough as yours. But I only found yours when finally searching case tractor, hunting some non engine knowledge. Also you did right by not opening the oil pickup any further. If your 530 is like my 580, that pickup floats. If you open it, there’s no air sealed in it to keep it floating. Again, great content you made here!

Good idea about the title, I may go back and add that. Glad the videos are helping you. Thanks!

Mine injection pump has those one piece vane pump blades. Having a heck of a time getting it running despite going through it in the most meticulous way. Just not getting pressure. Tracture was running before and then just died while running. It had the rubber/plastic thing on the weight wheel, at one time but it was completely gone. I replaced it with the one piece wheel.

Sir this looks like a pre 1965 case 530 construction king diesel . This that correct? The date is because the regular 530 tractor switched injectors from your type in 1965. I am getting a gas 530 CK soon so this really helps !! B

Yeah, it would be better to have a plate to bolt it to and clamp that in the vise. But it actually felt plenty stout and you definitely don’t want to clamp the body in the vise!

I can’t remember the exact size but you’re supposed to use torx bit and before you try to loosen it strike the bolt with a hammer just a good jar , good luck
@skookumsawmilling7653 Жыл бұрын
No, it's not a torx bit. It's called a Bristol bit. They sell them for about $40! I'll take my chances with an Allen wrench, lol! It was just ridiculously seized.

My old girl started today-the first time since I bought it and the first time since it was rescued from the bush after sitting outside for more than 15 years. It is smoking blue as would be expected since the rings are probably stuck but time will tell. That engine of yours did seem to have extra noise above the clatter that is usual for a diesel. I'll be checking your other videos on the rebuild.
@skookumsawmilling7653 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it ended up being a spun rod bearing, so I did a complete rebuild. I'm down to rewiring everything now and then it'll be time to fire it up! I'm excited to finish and I look forward to seeing yours running also!
