Leave the cap off when you bleed it. And also your not supposed to fill it all the way with fluid, just cover the inner cylinder

Sage advice from EdontheBeach. 44 Blue Pills or 44 Yellow Pills generic Viagra from AutoZone for your jack. I have the same jack that I bought 15+ years back from Harbor Freight and I love this jack. Earlier this year I used it to lift a 20" diameter tree trunk so I could saw it. Thank you kind sir for enlightening me on the errors of the two plugs astride the handle. It makes perfect sense now, for the floor jack is really a sideways bottle jack with machinery to change the direction of travel and then set upon wheels to ease the jack placement. Now if only my truck could be as easy to fix as it is to jack it up. But, alas, it's not.

This looks like a HiLoad. I have a 2-3/4 Ton variant of this same floor jack. It was leaking and I found replacement fill hole plugs. Followed this video exactly and the jack works perfectly now. Thanks dude!

ATF is fine to use in a jack, though actual jack oil is thicker than AFT. It actually has stuff in it to condition rubber seals. Motor oil on the other hand is a big no no. Motor oil has sulfur in it, the sulfur absorbs moisture over time from the air turning the oil acidic which will eat up the seals in your jack....And no ATF does not have sulfur which is why ATF can be left in the transmission for many years, but motor oil is supposed to be changed yearly regardless of mileage.

Love it, saved myself from buying a crappy new one, CND 300, I also have the same jack bought 40 years ago! Those with a few miles under their belt have a way of speaking clearly, they know, life is simple and today society has a way of being really fricken complicated because they think they know. Really happy I found your clip and thank you!! Cheers

What about draining and refilling? That an option? I used brake fluid before seeing this.(to top it off, so maybe 5% of total fluid is brakefluid) Its a great old jack, just like this one but bigger
@EdontheBeach4 ай бұрын
watch the video again and make note of the part where I show you about the drain plug. Yes, get that brake fluid out of there...it will dissolve o-rings and rubber washers
@0ptimal4 ай бұрын
Seems like this methods is indeed best. Just watch out, that rubber plug will pop outta there and fling fluid at you. Mine was harder to get to than this one though

This is a very good video it explains things perfectly I have a floor jack with four ports and messed with the flat headed screw and oil came out under pressure my rubber plug is painted red didn’t think that was the port to put the oil in but it was so thank you for making an easy to follow video my man cheers

After watching some of 'those videos' I went down the rabbit hole of 'fixing' my Craftsman 3-ton jack, which I've had for at least 30 years. Thank goodness I found your video and followed your advice. The rubber plug looked like steel, painted silver, just like the jack, but it was there. I used a straw as a funnel because I didn't want to make another trip out for one after driving all over town to find the jack oil. That plug was a booger to get back in after filling the jack with oil. But, once I wrestled that back in the jack worked like a charm, just as you described. Thank you, Ed, for your video and no-nonsense but enjoyable delivery of how to get my jack working again. Definitely, two thumbs up! 👍👍😁

Wow! Thank you sir. My Jack quit working and I saw the left hand hole there at the rear and thought I had lost a screw in plug and have been on the search for a plug for it so I could put in Jack oil and get it working again. I will buy some Jack oil and fill as you instructed. Way to go!

Finally someone that knows what he's doing. It seams like everyone is unscrewing the screws, those are not too be tampered with, unless it needs to be refurbished from neglect. And like he said, Jack's especially an older one like mine and his, they will be around for thousands of years, literally.

Yes as stated earlier, easy to understand video. 👍 Question, I filled the resevoir and bled all the air out of my Craftsman 214.12300 three ton car jack. I checked all the ball bearings also. It pumps up a bit and then starts to fall flat. Do you or others have any clues?

Just curious... Did you talk to Champion about warranty replacement? I understand that it wasn't installed by a certified mechanic and you can't prove the type of coolant you had in it, but often if I talk to the manufacturer in similar circumstances, they will still replace it or at least provide a discount on the replacement. I'm not saying they would, just curious if you talked to them before making the video.
@EdontheBeach9 ай бұрын
In fact I did contact Champion. It was then I found out about needing to prove I used a certified installer, green fluid, distilled water, etc. I stewed a couple days and, being dumb as I am, ordered another Champion anyway. I felt I had no choice. That was Feb '22. That replacement began seeping fluid recently. Knowing I was about to start another long distance road trip, and would get no help from Champion, I took it out and have installed a new copper/brass radiator in it's place. About TWO YEARS on that Champion. Pathetic. I am through with Champion and, knowing what I know, I would advise you to steer clear of them as well.
