I went several times around 76/77 when Derek Hales was playing. I don't recall the away end being covered, must have been shortly after.

Stunning and iconic. Pity the new place didn't reference the old iconic Highbury styling,. Even tho the Emirates looks v nice in its way.

Incredibly distinctive ground. Had already lost some capacity since its heyday tho. New grounds should be a mixture of old and new characteristics. Big towering stands, but old styling and individuality with big terraces.

I remember old Anfield. It was a bloody awful ground relative to the massive stature of the club. Apart from the Kop. The old Kop was magnificent beyond words.

Back then every football ground was different. Deepdale was old but looked after. West Stand very cosy and you never got wet. Spion Kop massive.

My dad went up twice in the 60's for the England games. Both crowds over 130000. He bumped into someone from the street he lived on. It must have been eerie watching Queens Park there.

Thanks for putting this on. My dad took us up to a game v Clyde about 1980/81. It was the closest ground to the caravan near Blackpool. They had some awful red cola for sale in the covered end. i've been back about ten times since.

So sad seeing such wonderful old grounds demolished. They hold millions of our memories. If a Lord stayed at a country house in the 1800’s it’d be a grade listed building so wouldn’t be allowed to be demolished. But we fans don’t have the same memories!! Tories out.

Been there a few times with my team Stirling Albion. Was always a ground famous for having games postponed due to waterlogged pitches i.e. there would be one game off in Scotland, and it would be at Boghead. That said the old ground is a million times more appealing as a football fan than the soulless one stand job at the Rock.

So glad I came across this video. This was my Mecca in the early 80's & remember Tony Kellow being behind a desk in the club shop next to the Grandstand. He signed my shirt which was our 1st ever sponsored shirt which was LCD as I remember.
