Served ‘04 to ‘24 crossed the line in ‘05, spent 13 years on 7 different ships. I never saw straight abuse, sometimes long hours but not every day and I was never told I couldn’t eat a meal. If working and the chow line was going to close you get a hot plate brought to you or held for you. No. Force Recon will not give up the DA mission. Nor should they. Why diminish capabilities of your best in shape and mature force? Meu(SOC) comes with the MSPF. Recon BN supports Reconnaissance & Surveillance (Kilometers behind lines) for the Marine Divisions. Force Reconnaissance supports Deep (miles behind lines) Reconnaissance & Surveillance for the MEF. Special Reconnaissance (SOF Level) takes a ton more support/$. Marine Corps funding is Always a problem. They can’t fit and man a full sweep of Raiders. So I don’t know about or why have a reserve Raider. I believe funding is another problem. I remember they’ve been asking about Warrant Officers in teams since the place started. Changing that and adding Warrant Officers is a whole other bag of snakes & bricks. Raiders do Not want to get stuck on ship. They sold that to the MC in the beginning to make the transition smooth. See we can support you on ship… Except the MEU has No operational command over deployed Raider units. And why should they? “SOC” Qualified without a SOF representative blessing it. Should we bring back the Paramarines and have them take the DA mission from Recon so that Recon can specialize more in SR? When will we get a Reserve Raider Battalion? What about Raider Warrant Officers? While the establishment of the Scout Platoon and Precision Weapons Section in each Victor unit is an overall net positive for each battalion, the gain did NOT have to come at the cost of the Scout/ Sniper Platoons. What is being done to restore Scout/ Snipers? Furthermore, what is an R.S.T.A.C. and how does that differ from the Scout/ Sniper Platoon? Will MARSOC take over the SOC certification of every MEU to actually make them "SOC"?
