How does dead deaf ppl get them for free I'm deaf I really want one
@NomadicSims15 күн бұрын
If only health insurance covered these... but unfortunately they'd say they aren't necessary so oh well people who could really benefit are SOL. Hopefully companies can make them far cheaper because these could be super helpful for deaf or hard of hearing folks!

On the websire of hearview, the glasses have different languages, but I'm not sure about the translating of real time spanish speaker, translating it into English and whatnot. 🤷♀️ would be cool though if it can translate other spoken languages into the selected language translation that the glasses user has selected it to!

the only thing I wonder about is, would relying on the glasses take away from the personal experience you get in connecting with someone by reading their lips//looking at their facial expressions as they talk? obvs it’s so so amazing that these exist- i’m super grateful for yall- but would u always choose to use the glasses in every situation??
@amberlynn8591Ай бұрын
That's a great question! I hope he addresses that in his review, I'm sure he will. They were made partly for that reason, to not take away from the lip reading connection so I am dying to know the answer. The main reason.... (I'm sure you know, I am thinking out loud😂)...is because the two creators of this came up with it because a deaf student at their college dropped out because of accessibility problems. Also one of the creators has had bilateral hearing loss since he was three years old.,.....so it makes me wonder if the glasses are more suitable for situations like that?!

Sadly, I didn't discover Esperanza Spalding until AFTER her Emily's D+ tour. She was doing the Exposure project at the time. I was excited to see her in DC touring the 12 Spells album, but it was "weak" (to me) in comparison (she only played the bass for the last 15mins). Maybe, (by popular demand) my prayers to the "Music Gods/Goddesses will be answered and she will revive this masterpiece?

im just interested in how you guys got the hand tracking to work so well
@mylesdb4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean in consideration of the Oculus Quest handtracking capabilities? It can work surprisingly well as long as you avoid signs that occlude fingers or hands and blocking the cameras from seeing all digits. Another consideration is that Quest has a “confidence” setting in the implementation of Handtracking, by default Oculus recommend to use “high confidence” mode where the hands are hidden from view if the tracking confidence falls. But this is extremely disruptive when using ASL. We find it better to enable “low confidence” as default where it will not hide the hands if tracking is not working well, yes it means the hands glitch out more but that is valuable feedback for when you are signing and can then adjust the hand position on the fly.

VRchat's version of ASL so far has been really helpful for me^ despite not being able to fully do everything in VR, ASL has become a really fun language to learn and I highly recommend it despite myself being rather slow with learning. I'm actually here on a bit of a search train after ordering my Oculus quest 2 a few days ago so I can continue staying connected with learning sign, and other communities as I go off to college. So I'm rather excited to continue learning as well! I wish you luck on what you've done so far^

looks great. if you add head/neck rotation it will look much more natural. it takes some tweaking in blueprint but its doable
@mylesdb4 жыл бұрын
For sure! In this case, I was doing facial mo-cap as an additive layer on top of existing full body mo-cap, so I didn't want to affect the head/neck rotation. Just implant my silly facial expression onto the pre-existing body movements, if that makes sense?

Thank you for playing my game! I can see how the menu is a little awkward, I experimented with a couple different designs. That one was the easiest to build in the game so I just stuck with it, but it can definitely be adjusted if development is continued. It looks like the sign recognition system was working just about as well as I expected it to. I think I could see that it wasn't quite keeping up with your proficient sign production, but you were able to complete two levels, so I'm pretty happy with that. Footage like this is very important as feedback for my report so thank you for uploading! Hope you had fun!

Sorry for the delay, didn't get a notification on your message. I used Geopix to build a 3D map of LED pixels and arranged the real pixel strips in a cube around my desk using poly-carbonate tubes and PVC pipe fittings. I am playing with UE4 now and looking to update a cubemap of the scene to send into Geopix via NDI for virtual production purposes!
