So did you toss the tag, or turn it back in? If turned in, won’t it be reissued and the next guy may go harvest something? I totally agree with your thoughts, but hopefully the tag wasn’t put on an animal.

Had a very similar experience and conversation in Wyoming this year. I will tell you why I decided to harvest, given the current climate and state of the country, thinking turning in a tag and forgoing the hunt will benefit the herd was of the upmost consideration, until the conversation around conservation and future etiquette came into play. Whilst we have a government and political system that no longer cares for conservation or the hunter, windows of opportunity are dwindling further away. Those with no conservation reasons or understanding get to vote to reintroduce wolfs into the lands and nothing can be done. Concern for the wellbeing of the animal is only within the hunter anymore. While your efforts may have been effective even 10 years ago, in the current liberal climate, not so. Until the nation will discuss a national divorce, operation under the premise that future opportunities will be there, if we forgo now, will not be had. My children will not hunt as I have just I can no longer hunt as my father has. I can not find it "moral" for me to give up a tag while a voter casts a ballot to introduce grey wolfs.

@@GarrettGalloway-c8h well truthfully I’m not a meat hunter. I’d always prefer a bull or buck. But, this hunt made sense for this year and it was cow only. I’m not a trophy hunter either, I hunt for many reasons, very few of them actually having to do with the animal.

Look at Russell Moccasin “Big Cambo”, buy once cry once. Work with them to get the right fit that will mitigate heel slip. I always use Merino wool socks that are over the calf, in weights to match the weather. These type of boots will outlast and outperform mass production molded boots. And unless you treat them like waders your feet will stay dry. I have tried most all “high end” hunting boots. And Russell’s have become my go to. I do have a couple pairs of big box store pac boots for late season “still hunting” in severe cold. Thanks for the video.

Only you can make that choice. I do feel that Fish and Game should do their job and change the regulation in cases like these.
@michaelcurrall
@michaelcurrall 2 ай бұрын
@@spielp he even said that to me himself, that he felt like the season shouldn’t have been so open this year, and he was going to give up his tag too. People say that if fish and game are issuing the tags, then hunt them, and I feel like that’s just a way to keep your own hands clean. I feel people should do their own work and talk to the biologists who have boots on the ground.

For sure a much harder hunt in the open but that’s what makes it more exciting and challenging. Don’t quit just because the area seems dead I’ve learned that the hard way. They cover so much ground the main thing is find the shade spots and set up away from them in hopes they’ll bed down in those areas. Good luck out there this year

@@jessesilva4768 appreciate the input. I’m just confused why multiple people now have implied I’m not going to hunt because it’s hard. People took the title, watched 5 minutes of the video and drew a conclusion. I explained why I wasn’t going to hunt.

@@michaelcurrall I watched the whole thing and took it as you were still on the fence about it lol. Most of us are eager for the season to open and when we get closer to that time and know where we are hunting there’s more enthusiasm so maybe they all felt as though u just gave up because of the lack of action you saw and maybe some of the things said lead to that conclusion.
@michaelcurrall
@michaelcurrall 2 ай бұрын
@@jessesilva4768 then people’s minds are in the wrong place. I clearly explained that I was going to eat the tag because I wanted to do my small part in helping the population replenish. I never not once said that I was considering not doing it because I didn’t see much, I said it was because of what the wildlife biologist told me about the state of the population. He himself told me he decided to give up his tag for the same reason. So perhaps people should actually listen to what is said. I still don’t know why people assume things, I saw 60-70 head that day. I will accept criticisms of me personally all day, but taking a move that’s made in the name of conservation and turning it into me just being lazy….thats out of line and unbecoming any hunter.

@@michaelcurrall either way I feel ya. I’m from Cali where we hunt is probably the most difficult place to hunt as it’s so pressured and the libs protect every predator possible that they tend to scare a lot of wildlife out of the reachable areas. Last year we put in work 100s of miles and saw nothing but does and no bucks at all. Southern California is hit or miss so I’ve eaten plenty of tags lol

Good "regular guy" video (feels relatable). Great looking bow. I think I am really going to take a look at getting a Lift. I have an old school Legacy. It has been great over 18 years (LOL yeah its old). I have a newer bow in a different brand. It's really a good bow. Would really like to make it my back up bow, and purchase a Lift as my main bow. But anyway, thanks for the review of the Lift. Oh yeah, I definitely hear you about the Bino Harness. I think they are all a little give and take. I have never tried that one in particular, but I have quite a few different brands laying around here. lol Good hunting this season. Let us know how it does in the field this season.
