Oil based poly finish every time, commercial installers prefer water based because it dries much quicker, so saving hugely on time. That said Boners is great WB product.

I used a babtywipe on my leather sofas to remove dust that had accumulated over the past year, and dander that was built up in the crevasses. I used a gentle hand, I wiped, I didn't scrub. Is my sofa going to be ruined from that one time?

Thanks for video! I recently uncovered an old terracotta tile floor in our hallway by removing the screed on top of it. I removed the cement residue with HG cement grout and mortar remover (P12) and cleaned the floor with HG extra strong terracotta cleaner (P87). A number of tiles came out with white faded patches, which I discovered could be remedied by rubbing olive oil into the tiles. After the oil the tiles were looking good, so I proceeded to seal them using HG terracotta protector (P84). Unfortunately though, patches of the floor have ended up with a waxy, white residue from the terracotta protector. I am thinking next to try to remove the protector again with P87 and try a different approach to sealing. Any advice for how to choose the best product? 99% of Amazon reviewers seem to have had good experience with the P84 sealant, with only one or two others having the same experience of white patches that I had. Not sure if that is because I applied incorrectly or something to do with our tiles. Have you used any of these products? Any tips or advice appreciated!

I'll be honest, don't use insecticide. Just use a kettle of hot boiling water. Lift the carpet and find the larvae. they don't survive with hot boiling water.

I purchased a wool carpet from Jackeranda carpets 9 years ago and the sheading has been non stop. After consulting a carpet expert it would appear this is not unusual. I now have removed the £80 per square metre carpet and purchased one that is woven and not constructed with silicone. Buyer Beware !

If you’re like me and already rubbed in the pollen and created a great big yellow stain, try Cill it BANG mould remover! It worked perfectly. I tried all sorts first, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda helped lift it a little but didn’t do much, nail remover didn’t help me at all, the iron didn’t help either. Once I used the mould remover it started coming away immediately. I’d recommend using a toothbrush as well to help and clean it. Just spray it on and leave for 30 secs and then get the toothbrush and start brushing the carpet and once happy, wipe away any excess bleach and then open the windows for some ventilation afterwards. My carpet is a light grey colour and it hasn’t been bleached white either so I’m very happy. It looks brand new after 2-3 layers of the bleach brushed into the carpet.

We had a professional clean the carpet and afterwards the carpet smelled. We had a different company come out and the carpet still smells. We decided to go over the carpet ourselves with the Rug Doctor. We have cleaned the carpet several times. The smell is weakening but the vinegar smell is still there.

DON'T USE THE SPINNING BRUSH ON THE TOP! It will remove a lot of the fiber from the rug. If you need proof, just look in the bag afterwards... those fibers in there are your rug! Beat the back of the carpet, and use strong suction on the top.
@robertherman11468 ай бұрын
Yes, thank you, this is the correct way to vacuum critical, delicate rugs like the cotton tufted Safavieh Nantucket and Missoni Saporiti patchwork rugs which are multi-piled and multi-textured. We use a Miele C3 with SEB 236 power nozzle on the back and the AllTeq with retracted bristles for the top. Otherwise you'll damage these types of rugs.
@tomhill40038 ай бұрын
@@robertherman1146 Is it ok to use a suction-only vac like a small shop vac for periodic cleaning? That's what I've been doing for years (outside of professional cleaning), and the rug seems to be holding up well.

Totally useless video! Do you think people would Google how to pick up pollen from the carpet? By this stage people would be finding a way to remove the actual yellow stains!

The smell you get after using the rug doctor is the smell of the chemical you use to clean the carpet. Best way to use the rug doctor is to use it as a rinser. Don’t put any chemical in the machine. Just hot water from the tap. Mix the chemical in one those garden spray bottle and spray it onto the carpet. While the tank is empty, unplug the vacuum hose at the rear of the rug doctor,( so you don’t suck up all the chemical) Now you have an agitator machine. Go over your carpet a couple of times, working the chemical in. Then plug the vacuum hose back in, fill the tank with just hot water and rinse it out. I would only do maximum of 2 wet passes and as many dry passes (until the you see no more water sucking up)
