My advice to you two is: the best way I learned Vietnamese was I read A LOT OF "Truyen Chuong" translated to Vietnamese from authors like Kim Dung, Co Long, Quynh Giao etc. I left VN at a very very young age but my speaking Vietnamese is way much better than most of Vietnamese at my age even the ones in Vietnam. If you can understand Truyen Chuong" written mostly using Han Viet, then it's a breeze with conversations in Viet. PS: Warning "Truyen Chuong" is very very very very addictive.

When the CCP claimed the "South China Sea", ONLY masses of South Vietnamese protested while the North Vietnamese up in the North DID NOTHING. I heard the Vietnamese police had to use really really loud speakers to disperse the crowd. The irony was the VC claims that VNCH was TRAITORS.
