Joan, telling a story in song. Is it verse or non-rhyming poetry in song?

0:54 so utterly heartfelt..Joan can tell a story in just a few words..she is spellbinding.

If there’s a better song about someone in love and falling for someone else, please let me know (I’d honestly want to hear that, because it would have to be a great one). Poignant, honest, heartfelt vocals…good friend turned me on about a year before Chapman and “Fast Car” showed she was an even bigger fan of her than I was.

Such a beautiful song, her early albums were the soundtrack of my teens and early 20s. Joan is one of the greatest songwriters and performers to come out of the UK yet she remains so much less well known than she should be. My one regret is never having seen her live.

Same here. I have listened to Joan from the 1970's and was lucky to see her a few years ago. She was tremendous! Her voice is still as strong as ever in her 70's! What amazed me was how many instruments she can play. It was an awesome concert and she came back for three standing ovations such is Joan's grace and humility❤

@@SerenDipity64711 She's one of our great treasures. I'm happy for you that you got to see her. A very talented lady. The nearest I've got is standing on her 'walk of fame' star in Birmingham! But hope to catch her in concert some day. x

So straightforward, something you have the end of your tongue but can’t quite articulate when you need it most. Beautiful and tragic all the same. It’s just the way you feel at that time, amazing to have been made into a song. Simple and Real. It doesn’t need to be too cryptic. It’s just so straightforward. ❤
