Its been 11+ years since this fire. I have to wonder if that 1982 Seagrave 85 foot is still in service (as a reserve)

Doesn't look like very much training going on here. In Texas, the Commission on Environmental Quality would see through this. They even have a Q&A on this: "There must be a specific benefit to the fire department. Simply preventing the spread of fire from an abandoned building to neighboring property is not considered training. Such burns constitute an attempt to circumvent the Outdoor Burning Rule and are prohibited."

I am sure their burning more than grass and weeds . Black smoke comes from tires or rubber .

My dads place burned down with him inside luckily a neighbour pulled him out. The place was gutted ! All down to a fan heater. Surely the 6 men stood around could of been hosing it down on this one.

I am amazed that the building codes still allow buildings to be built with cardboard and toothpicks. The people living in a building like that have no idea how unsafe the building is.

manse-rt roofs are WELL KNOWN for spreading fast moving fires!! A good example was the fire in Prospect heights where they lost 3 buildings. America has lousy building codes!!. They ought to start going to these HIGH RISK older buildings whenever they have to do a roof make them install fire stops in the the triangle space that fire love so much while the shingles are off.

Terrible day for sure.. If they had their instruments working they could have saved the plane... I guess by now there are redundant systems... If there is any bright spots, it's the improvement afterwards...

I was in the house when the fire broke out and I noticed the smoke coming from the roof of the garage, im glad everyone made it out safe. It was traumatic to see decades of hard work taken from a family so dear to me.

And no hydrants? They're law in most places. Lots of nicer houses like that have sprinkler systems to boot. Tick another spot of where NOT to live.

Rest In Peace Anthony. I miss you and your smile. I lived in Crown King, AZ and worked with Anthony with the Fire Department. One of the nicest guys I've ever known. God Bless from a former Mill Creek Hotshot (1974, 75, 76) and Prescott Hotshot (1987, 88) current Park Ranger at the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park in Arizona.

What a fine job regarding containment. With a neighborhood not having its own emergency water source, the strategies that were undertaken to guarantee the best possible outcome was well documented.
