Great video! I got to try an ND2 MX-5 Miata for two days and agree with your assessment, and overall it was a blast to drive and makes my Lexus GS350 feel sloppy in comparison. I'm 6'1'' with very long legs and the driving position is perfect despite my legs nearly touching the dashboard, and is far more comfortable than the Honda Accord I used to drive despite having less legroom. I wish I could daily one but it simply doesn't work with my lifestyle right now. Have you had any mechanical issues with the car or has it been reliable so far?

I just got a ND3 GT soft top like 3 weeks ago. I love it. There r only 3 things I don't like about the car so far which tbh they r kinda minor, the road noise is pretty bad but weirdly enough I didn't notice it until I drove someone else car 2 days ago, so quiet! 🤣 2nd the exhaust is so quiet, I'm definitely gonna get a louder one for sure. Maybe in a few months. 3rd the paint is way to thin, I already got rock chips everywhere D: One thing I have to disagree is the visibility, maybe the cars I drove before sucked but I feel like in my miata is so easy to see everything, almost no blind spots, and if there r, the blindspot sensor or whatever it's called, helps a lot. And of course when the roof is down you can just see everything.

nd2 rf owner here. can confirm she's right about all these things. if anyone's interested in one. the nappa leathers they offer are super comfortable and have heated seats. like she said though, paint is super thin so maybe look into ppf. have had mine new since 21' and nothing breaks my heart more than when i'm washing it and find more tiny rock chips taking their piece of the paint pie, or as they'd say in bongersland...oi shlice o dah point cake. the rf insolation is awesome. adding an auto top controller means i can drop the top from the key fob while walking up to it, but if a soft top is more your style and you still want a little more insulation, the grand touring has a slight thicker top, and all the extra creature comforts. as for compliments. i get compliments from people that know cars. and i get $%&# talk from people that don't know $%&# about cars. so in the end, it helps me filter through people correctly.

Great videoo!! Currently debating in changing my mazda 3 for a MX5 ND3. Main thing that worries me is road noise, I would use it as daily driver and not so much in highways.

The road noise only really bothers me when I’m on the motorway (highway) so if you don’t do a lot of that type of driving it might be fine. It was something I was also worried about when looking to buy my mx5 but now I’d say it’s worth it as there are so many great things about the car that outweigh it :)

@@tiegancarter Great, hope that in a few months I´ll come back and say i did the change haha. Also, which are your top 3 best colors on the ND?
@tiegancarterКүн бұрын
@@SimplyTenisI can only imagine myself with ‘soul red’ as I think that’s the best colour for the MX5 ND plus I believe they updated it since the ND1 and it looks even cooler on the ND2/3. However I do also really like ‘eternal blue’ which I believe is only for the ND1? But if you are going for the ND3 there is a gorgeous colour called ‘deep crystal blue’ which is really pretty.

Nice! I’m currently debating getting the ND2, do you think it’s worth it? :)

@ more power 181 HP and more tech. I bought my used with 35,000 miles a year later and $10,000 off. Paid $23,500 US dollars. The Miata was what I was looking for 🤗

Have you also tried the GR86? I feel like convertibles are probably not very useable in British weather.

I haven’t driven one before and actually don’t know a lot about them so I will deffo watch some reviews, thanks for the suggestion! :)

I took my 2016 Icon over to Portugal last summer from the UK. It's not a common car there and so gets a few looks and double takes. Mines the metallic grey and so far no problems with scratches or road rash. However, the red (soul red?) front splitter got damaged and lost a patch of paint, which looked pretty ugly. A guy on KZbin who owns Paint Gear sent me a little tube of undercoat and the perfect paint match to do a quick respray. Worked perfectly. Regarding the soft top, i use Gtechniq citrus cleaner and waterproofer on mine (once a year) and the water just rolls off it. It seems to stop green algae buildup, too, as i keep my mx5 outdoors and it's not affected at all. Use soft luggage, you'll get plenty in.

Yeah I’ve heard that the other colours aren’t as delicate as the red (unfortunate for me haha) but I will look into your suggestion thank you! & thanks for the soft top cleaner suggestion, that sounds perfect as I am currently dealing with some green algae build up on my roof that I wanna get rid of and try to prevent in the future (I also have to keep my mx5 outside) :)

I'm a guy, I have an NC (i'm soon getting an ND3) and I get complements, maybe not so much in the UK as the MX-5 is a relatively common sports car, but if you ever decide to go abroad with it through france, and specially spain or italy, people will complement you a lot about the car 😅. I'd say the big problem with the soul red colour is that is a soft paint which will make it easier to scratch and chip from stones than other paints (which is needed to get that stunning red they make). You should look into putting some selfhealing PPF protection for the front of the car. Is a bit expensive but 100% worth it, specially if you are planning to keep the car for a long time. You can always apply some ceramic coating but they last a few years even though they don't offer as near as much protection as something like a physical barruer like PPF. For the soft top I'd recommend the 303 kit or also autoglym offers a kit (2 sprays, 1 for cleaning and 1 for protection) for the soft top convertible cloth, which I tried and it works really good.

@@tiegancarterNo worries! I hope the soft top cleaner works for you as well as it did for me 😊. I have a boot rack for when I travel abroad that may help you as well in the future (specially if you are travelling for over a week or 2😅). The brand is called Revo Luggage. They sell it on MX5parts but they have their own website as well (sorry YT doesn't allow me to paste any links here). It's so good as it gives you extra storage on top of your actual and it fits all gen MX-5. Hope it helps 😊.

for the maintenance of the convertible top checkout the 303 kit, it includes a cleaner and sort of a sealant/coating for getting a nice water repellency
