Do you chain one in each beginning row. I've done it 3 times and I am adding stitches. Ended up with 36 at the end. I am using stitch markers.

I start each round with a chain 1 and close the round with a slip stitch into the first single crochet, not into the chain 1. This keeps the stitch count consistent and avoids adding any unnecessary stitches

I'm confused at the 2nd ear flap. How do you just start crocheting in the already created loops?

I love how the mittens turned out in the video, but how would I make them bigger? I'm using wool, so naturally, I had to make the mitten bigger anyway... starting with making the circumstance bigger (36 stitches instead of 30 wide) and using a 5mm hook. However it then messes up the rest of the pattern for me. I tried to work my way around it, and it's definitely not perfect. The one mitten I made does fit me, but is very snug in the thumb section. I have skinnier wrist, and not the biggest hands. I still need them bigger as I'm hoping to make them for family for Christmas, who would need bigger mittens. Men's hands would be even larger too... I should also mention that the cuff size works good for me, but then the part that my hand rest in is a bit too big and the thumb snug. Any tips?

Thank you! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It will match a slip stitch hat pattern I have. Most crochet mittens are made in the round and don’t stretch the right way.

Update.... I complained about #2 yarn 44 rows no where near 35cm. This bugged me. I did 44 rows of #4 worsted weight and 20.4cm and no I didn't crochet tight. This one I'll definitely scrap otherwise I'll be rewriting the pattern and I lack that knowledge. Good luck to everyone else
