Just back from seeing the play . I absolutely loved it . Every time I see this play I see something new . Friel is obviously an excellent playwright. I would have to say that this is probably the best thing that have seen this year . The cast are amazing . The relationships that develops between the characters is mesmerizing. There is a bit of a “Mundy” in us all. You ask yourself which one of them represents who i am in the family ?And when they dance it is absolutely hypnotizing . It represents the misery , longing , frustration , the need to let go. The choreography that must have gone into that sequence alone, is amazing . I could honestly have sat for another hour . A must for anyone who loves theatre . If you are lucky enough to get a ticket you will definitely say to yourself “ I am coming back and I know …. Would love to see it” Keep up the good work .

I just finished the audiobook. There were times when I felt the narrative was dry, but I think it was also my ability to focus LOL. By the end, I was deeply invested in the characters and found myself commenting aloud as things were happening. There was a scene that reminded me of something my wife and I experienced and I found myself sobbing in my kitchen. Emma Donoghue doesn't have to write a complicated story to get it to sink its teeth in unexpectedly. As I was listening, near the end, I thought this would be good to adapt (similarly to Sarah Waters' TV adaptations of her wonderful novels). I am not surprised to see it has been adapted, although I wish it were accessible to me across the pond. I don't think I'll be able to get myself over to Ireland to take in the theatre show. Break a leg, all!

Olwen is an amazing actor. We are in the U.S. and viewed her performance in the Tourist. The second season was worth watching just to see her. We were absolutely blown away. She is totally believable, and she is also beautiful.

Very insightful! I can tell this guy really did his homework. I love it when actors can add their own spin to the characters they depict on stage. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I read on Wikipedia that during the autopsy the medical team found lesions on Zangara’s gallbladder which might’ve explained the pain. Again, I’m no historian so don’t quote me on that.

So a production of this was shown in Bristol a few days ago, then cancelled after the 1st night due to feedback that it was 'triggering'. The gun suicide perhaps? But if so then 'upsetting' rather than 'triggering', as I doubt any of the equally bourgeois audience of kids have direct experience of suicide by gunshot...?

Fantastic performane by Owen Roe with a strong supporting cast. Great use of just the right amount of humour and humanity to offset what could have been a too-dark play. Magical prose and a beautifully designed set. The difference between a good play and a great play is that most of the time, I wasn't at the theatre, I was in one location or another back in time and this performance has stuck with me for weeks after in a melancholic and haunting way. Congratulations - terrific production and thank you.
