So what do we do when all of that is okay?. We've swapped the engine tried a different computer, checked exhaust flow. We've done just about everything you can think of. If you have any tips that would be great. This vehicle previously had a lifter failure

One of the best vids I've seen about the cam issue. I have a 6.4 scat and it had the cam problem. I will agree the car is not made to idle. It's a design flaw in the block. If you commute in a car like this sitting in rush hour traffic then you will have the cam problem. You say the MDS is well thought out. I don't agree. It's an inefficient add on because of cafe standards. With my car MDS is off in sport mode and I purchased a tuner to turn off MDS in regular drive mode. It's been 4 years since the cam was replaced and it runs like a top. The MDS would come on in 3rd gear, the motor/exhaust had a weird drone and you have to punch the gas pedal to get out of it. I get 1 to 2 mpg better on highway without MDS. It cost 6 grand to replace the cam then. I can only image what it costs today.

Why do you think the 1500’s are more prone to this problem than the 2500’s? Do they have different manifolds? Is it a 5.7 vs 6.4 thing? Someone enlighten me

My 6.4 scat pack now has 68 thousand miles. If I put the original oil pump on the Melling Part Number Change 10452HV, you won't get the error message that there is too much oil pressure in the engine. Should additional camshaft nozzles be installed so that the oil reaches the lifters and camshaft?

If you watch my other videos showing the oil path through the gen 3 hemi engine you'll see that the camshaft is not solely lubricated by splash from the crank.

So if the int/exh ports are larger on the eagle heads and give better air flow but you can use the stock manifolds or aftermarket headers from the earlier 03-08s, shouldn't there be some port matching or else restriction can occur? Also, are head bolts TTY bolts? Why reuse them if they are previous bolts and stretched?
@ReignitedAuto4 күн бұрын
You're correct, the exhaust manifolds would benefit from being matched. The intake manifolds are not interchangeable so those ports will match the correct manifold. The head bolts are not torque to yield therefore they ARE reusable. This comes directly from the Chrysler service information. One reason there is confusion on this topic is because the bolts are torque to angle, which is just an alternate method of torquing them down. Think of it this way. If you were torquing a bolt to 55ft lbs, it's that any different than telling someone to torque the bolt to 30ft lbs, and then an additional 30 degrees? Both would result in the final torque number being 55, it doesn't mean that the one you finished torquing down by angle is now stretched and can't be used. I hope that clarifies it. 👍
@tRRickedOut4 күн бұрын
@@ReignitedAuto good to know about the head bolts. I have a 04 5.7 with Pacesetter LTs. I wonder how the ports line up and if not, the solution? Super hard to find good LTs these days.

@tRRickedOut I think sticking with those long tubes would be just fine, it's the stock manifolds I would be concerned with.

Main issue I’ve seen with the lifters has nothing to do with MDS, but rather the oil pump not pushing enough volume at idle engine speeds so swapping in a high volume pump would be what I’d do.

A high pressure or high volume pump will not help the crank sling more oil...

The camshaft on a gen 3 hemi does not receive oil solely from crankshaft splash. I have several videos showing the oil pathways through the engine that clarify this 👍

Would you say it could be beneficial to also upgrade the oil pan at the same time?
@ReignitedAuto5 күн бұрын
I don't see any reason to do so no. The Hellcat vehicles use the same overall volume of oil in those engines, so it's not like you need any extra capacity. It might help oil temperatures, but I don't see much benefit past that. 👍

Primarily just an annoyance, but prolonged it can eventually cause your oxygen sensor to read lean on that side, meaning you will be running rich on that back and it can affect your gas mileage.
