Great demo and comparison, I would say the C is more of a ‘vocal artist’ microphone and the S is more suited to fronting a loud band, they’ve obviously took aim at the wonderful Sennheiser MD345 and MD445, a comparison between the shures and the Sennheisers would be interesting

AA more relaxed, warmer bass, less spikes in treble yet a lot more detailed, good transient response. Also a slight handiness to the EQ curve, very natural breath to the notes. AKG had better transient accuracy for sustained chords but everything else was plastic sounding and simultaneously clinical / cold.

Thank you for the test and the comparisons included (very useful guide!). This mic is a very good alternative for drummers on the road, lighter, with a very good sound, and save space (no need for additional microphone stands). Fit well in standard flanged hoops or die-cast hoops, also in the most common hoops for percussion drums, like timbales, bongos or congas. In the particular case of rounded snare hoops, clip microphones directly attached to the drum are in general not recommended: will slide and fall.

I think the 451 suits more forward and bright (aggressive?) music in general while the CC8 is smoother and more natural, but not as detailed. I have been trying to decide between getting one or the other and this demo confirms the differences. It'll be a pair of 451's for me.

Would have loved to see how the tap worked. My demos ran out before I could try them and the way the sound catches up to the tap tempo is a deal breaker in live situations.

Good afternoon Sorry for the inconvenience, if I may just ask one question. I'm faced with a choice. Buy SSL SIX and audio interface or buy SSL BIG SIX. In one of the reviews I found out that SSL BIG SIX does not have as good analogue sound as SSL SIX. If this is not true, then I will buy the SSL BIG SIX for myself. What would you say comparing these two devices in terms of sound quality? Are they exactly the same or is there still a noticeable difference? Thank you very much.

I was glad to see an N/D468 on rack tom, they were great little mics. I like the CC8 for not having a hyped top end, I can always boost it with EQ if I want

There is a difference, but better or worse I dunno - music is taste! In a mix no one is going to care, the song is the most important aspect of a good recording. There is one thing that isn't subjective, cost.

One thing is for sure, no matter the snare mic, the overheads sound awesome. I use a 58 on the snare but that earthworks and audio technica was pretty nice sounding. The 57s have always sounded kinda shrill to me. The amazing part is, you could use any of then and make some awesome music. Beck Hanson recorded the vocals for "Loser" through a boundary mic.😮

To my ears they conveyed sounds that are very, very similar. Snare seems a little brighter with the Clarett but with some subtle EQ'ing that can replicated using the Scarlett. I am looking for an 8XLR input rig for home and at this point I am leaning towards the Scarlett. I can't really justify paying 40% more for such subtle differences. Of course....as in life...all things are reviewable LOL

The 18i sounds darker making it sound fuller in the low mids. The Clarett has a little better definition and I think it sounds a bit better but they are very close. I'm about to do a recording of an acoustic guitar, acoustic piano and vocals in a lively room. I think I'll rent the Clarett+.

The difference is when you look for support on the product you have had for 15 to 20 years….for one, don’t bother because you probably already threw it away….for the other they will assist you to the best that they can to support current and legacy products.

any comments if have 2 shelfords and then having MBC has any further added advantage, since a lot of analog color is added via shelfords and MBC although a very good converter, can still add something to the overall mix?? My interface is UAD Apollo..
