This whole attitude of his makes me bloody angry. I have been a huge Chan supporter despite all the naysayers. But lately he only has a defeatist attitude. Firstly, he brought in two programs that are better suited to exhibition performances than an Olympic competition. Then he worked on his quad flip, for no reason since he's not adding it. If he doesn't have the mindset of a champion, then quit and give another Canadian his spot and start skating in exhibitions where fans will appreciate his superior skating skills. He needs to remember what happened when another skater decided to skate for herself, her name was Michelle Kwan in 2002 and she didn't win gold she got the bronze, which was not what she signed up for. If Chan wants to skate for joy of skating then just retire and go pro and leave eligible skating for hungry skaters gunning for gold. I mean seriously, does he think Hanyu or Javier love all the quads either. They don't. Maybe Nathan Chan does but these guys sure don't. But they suck it up and do what they have to do to win. Cause that's the attitude you have to have in an Olympic year: No matter how many times you get knocked down or in the case of figure skating no matter how many times you fall on jumps you get up again and try them again and again. Kids look up to those who face obstacles not those like Chan who throw in the towel before the big competition even begins. PChiddy needs to spend more time on the sofa of his sports psychologist working on his attitude than anything else. Maybe then his consistency will improve.
